The opening of the Costa Coffee cafe at Tesco retail park in New Ross has seen ten people employed so far.

Attracting big crowds over the bank holiday weekend after opening last Wednesday, the large cafe is causing a stir locally.

"We’re flat out busy. we’re so busy we were running out of things and had to order in more,” manager Sara Polrolnik said.

"I think it will be successful as we are one of the only cafes in this retail area of New Ross and Tesco is busy.”

Having previously worked for two years with Costa Coffee in Wexford town, local woman Sara said she is excited by the role.

The cafe is open different hours at different times of the week and these will be subject to change based on business activity.

Serving breakfast, lunch, cakes and a variety of coffees and fruit drinks, the cafe's staff were trained either in Wexford or at the retail park by Sara, who is a qualified barista.

She said the response so far has been very positive.

"Most people are happy that there is a Costa Coffee in New Ross as they previously had to travel to Wexford to Waterford.”

She said Tesco has been supportive of the business, spreading the word about them.
