A man had his jaw broken in a violent fracas in Fethard on Sea in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Gardaí received reports of a number of assaults in the village, including one serious one, which required a man to be hospitalised.

“There seems to have been multiple people involved. One person sustained a serious injury which required medical attention.” said Supt Jarlath Duffy.

He said a number of people received minor injuries in the drunken incident. No arrests had been made at the time of going to press.
