There were scenes of great excitement at the grounds of Cloughbawn AFC recently when the club held a community field day as part of its 50th anniversary celebration.

The event also provided an opportunity for local people to view the club's fine new facilities, which were also officially opened, as part of the half-century landmark.

There was a wide range of attractions on-site to keep all members of the family entertained throughout the afternoon with everything from face-painting and balloon making to riding a motorised bull proving very popular.

The ‘Spratt Splat’ attraction was also popular an say people queuing up for the opportunity to throw a wet sponge at Cathal Spratt who was willing to ‘take one for the team’ on the day.

Under age players in the club were also presented with awards on the day which added to their enjoyment of the event.

The organisers were delighted with the turnout and praised everyone who showed up to give the event their support.
