THERE was further indication of the demand for coastal properties in Co Wexford this week as, after a flurry of 80 bids, the four bed Tory Cottage on Strand Road, Rosslare Strand managed to fetch more than €200,000 more than the guide price when the hammer finally fell at auction.
Given its proximity to the beautiful blue flag beach at Rosslare Strand, this four bed, three bath cottage was always going to attract significant interest for Kehoe & Associates, who had the listing.
A bungalow with four bedrooms and three bathrooms, the property also features French doors which lead from the living area out onto a large decking area which perfectly captures the evening sun and includes its own built-in barbecue area.
Kehoe & Associates presented the property as “a perfect holiday home, second home, weekend retreat or indeed a permanent home”, also noting that the home office “allows the possibility for someone to work remotely while only being a few steps away from the beach.
Having been listed with a €495,000 guide, the bids rolled in on auction day and a total of 80 bids, increasing on average by €3,000 at a time, saw the property eventually sold for €722,000.
"There is a very high level of interest in coastal properties at the present time,” Colum Murphy of Kehoe & Associates said. “We anticipate a busy summer season with sale in this area. There was a high level of interest in this particular property and our clients are delighted with the result.”
