A motorist from Enniscorthy was fined for a motoring offence when her case went before John Cheatle at a recent sitting of Gorey District Court.

Jillian Katie Edgeworth, 18 Ballagh Cove, the Ballagh, Enniscorthy, was charged with failing to produce a driving licence and with having no licence at Slievenagrane, the Ballagh, on March 6, 2022.

Garda Vincent Downes gave evidence in the case and told the judge that when he stopped the defendant she informed him that she had a learner permit.

“I asked her to produce her learner permit within 10 days but she failed to produce it,” said Garda Downes.

The court also heard the defendant had no previous convictions. Judge Cheatle then said: “Basically, it’s a learner driver unaccompanied; she had a learner permit.”

“She said she did but she didn’t have it with her,” said Gda Downes.

Judge Cheatle imposed a €200 fine for failing to produce a learner permit and marked the other matter as taken into account.
