A motorist from Enniscorthy was disqualified from driving after being convicted of road traffic offences at a recent sitting of Gorey District Court.

Laura Kelly, 2 Ard Na Hurraine, Ross Road, Enniscorthy, had her case heard before Judge John Cheatle, and was charged with having no insurance or NCT at Coolnaboy, Oylegate, on October 14, 2022.

Sergeant Paul Carthy gave evidence in the case of attending a road traffic accident at the stated location on the date mentioned.

He told the judge two cars travelling south bound on the N11 and collided, with one rear-ending the other.

"The driver of the rear car being the defendant,” said Sgt Carthy.

“Ms Kelly produced a licence at the scene and there was a demand made for her insurance,” he added. “She failed to produce the documents.”

The judge heard a fixed-charge penalty notice was issued “for having no NCT and failing to display a disc”.

“She paid the fine for no disc but failed to pay the penalty for no NCT,” said Sgt Carthy.

Judge Cheatle imposed a fine of €500 on the no insurance charge and disqualified the defendant from driving for two years.

He marked the other summons as taken into account.
