A motorist was convicted and fined €300 for having no insurance or road tax at Gorey District Court.

Driver fined

Matei Jivco (66) of Tomfinch Cottage, Enniscorthy, was charged with not having insurance or road tax at Fuinseoig Cottage, Enniscorthy. Jivco had no previous convictions and the court heard that he wasn’t long in the country and gave gardai an address in Cork.

€100 to poor box

An Enniscorthy man was ordered to pay €100 to the court poor box at Gorey District Court.

Mark McVeigh (27) of Park Bree, Enniscorthy was charged with possession of cocaine worth €50 at Clonvass, Enniscorthy on Christmas Day in 2019. The court heard that McVeigh worked as a mechanic and had no previous convictions.

Case adjourned

An Enniscorthy teenager has had his case adjourned at Gorey District Court.

Ciaran O’Brien (18) of 42 Slí na Slaine, Enniscorthy is charged with assault causing harm at on Slaney Street on March 3, 2020. The alleged victim reported receiving punches to the head and face as well as being kicked.

The court heard that there was no medical report at present and the case was adjourned to December 9.

Fined for theft

A Dublin man was fined €100 for stealing at Gorey District Court. Christopher Smith (28) of 20 Pimlico Terrace, Dublin was charged with stealing €28 worth of produce from Pettitt’s SuperValu, Enniscorthy in April 2020.

The court heard that Smith had 26 previous convictions. Smith was suffering alcoholism and has not come to any attention since May 2020.

Licence restored

An Enniscorthy man had his licence restored at Gorey District Court. Gardaí made no objection to the appliation by Micheal Dempsey of 19 St Joseph’s Terrace, Ballymurn, Enniscorthy, it was granted by Judge John Cheatle.
