A Courtown drug dealer found with cannabis and cocaine for sale drew a two year jail sentence when he appeared at Wexford Circuit Court.
nd Philip Kitt also agreed to forfeit more than €2,000 in cash generated by his drug peddling business.
The 30 year old pleaded guilty to having illegal substances for sale at 7 Riverchapel Park on November 2 in 2020.
That was the date on which gardaí raided the home he shared with Shannon Duignam at that time.
An new address of 33 Newborough in Gorey was later given in the course of the proceedings.
Plain clothes Garda Adam Lally confirmed to the court that he was one of the officers who arrived to search the premises in Riverchapel Park.
They found a large quantity of cannabis herb, some of it bagged up, as well as white powder, later proven to be cocaine.
Scales and a grinder provided further proof of what had been going on, while €2,560 in cash was seized by the investigators.
Kitt admitted on the spot that he had been selling the drugs and he later pleaded guilty to drug dealing when charged.
Ms Duignam also faced prosecution though her partner insisted that he should take full responsibility.
Defending barrister Colman Cody traced the history of his client’s drug addiction back to when the accused was 14.
Counsel added that the accused had faced the challenge of paying off a large drug debt and that threats had been made against his life.
Judge James McCourt acknowledged that Kitt had been the target of very real threats and that he had received beatings.
The two-year sentence, back-dated to March 8, was handed down with one unusual proviso.
The judge said that Kitt should apply for conditional release from prison if offered a place at a residential rehab centre such as Tiglin.
