A sitting of Gorey District Court has heard it will be alleged in a case due to come before it that a local man waved a knife around in public before stealing soft drinks from a supermarket.
The case of Stephen Griffiths, 34A Garden City, Gorey, went before Judge John Cheatle at a recent sitting of the court.
Judge Cheatle was told by the gardaí that it will be alleged that on November 4, 2021, the defendant produced a knife in the car park of Iceland, in Gorey, and that he subsequently entered the store waving the knife and took a 24-pack of 7-Up without paying for it.
“Mr Griffiths was discovered close by but the knife wasn’t recovered,” the investigating garda told the judge.
Judge Cheatle adjourned the case to September 8, for a plea to be entered or a hearing date to be fixed.
