GAHAN’S Bar in Clohamon was the venue for a cheque presentation ceremony recently at which three local community organisations were the beneficiaries.

Funds were handed over to Bunclody Daycare Centre, Kaira’s ONH Journey and Clohamon Development Group.

The money was raised from two tractor runs organised by Clohamon Development Group (CDG) and was the proceeds from tractors runs in 2020 and 2021.

Speaking to this newspaper, Donal Power, from the CDG, said the run two years ago was organised to raise money for a local child named Kaira Skolniece who is undergoing medical treatment for a rare health condition and that event raised €4,000.

The club took great delight in being able to present that money to Kaira’s parents Sandis and Shauna Skolniece.

The other presentations involved cheques for €2,000 being presented to Bunclody Day Care Centre and Clohamon Development Group.

Donal said everyone involved was, again, delighted to be able to support two very worthy organisations.

“Because of lockdown we weren’t able to present the cheque for the two events until now,” said Donal.

“Everyone was very happy to support the three causes and we got great support for the tractor runs from the general public which we really appreciated,” he added.

He also acknowledged the local gardaí for their help and assistance for the events. The tractor runs were very Christmas orientated and brought much festive cheer to Clohamon and Bunclody when they were held.

It’s hoped that a similar run will take place again this year with the likely beneficiary being the local cancer care organisation in Bunclody.

Members of the tractor run organising committee were in attendance at the presentation ceremony and the money for the community group will benefit the locality as the organisation continues with its impressive work on the old school in the village which has been turned into a very impressive community hall.
