Cannabis plants worth €28,000 seized in New Ross

€28,000 in cannabis plants were seized in an apartment in New Ross on Friday, as part of a coordinated series of raids of properties in the town.

New Ross based gardaí, assisted by Revenue officers and the local garda sniffer dog, attended the apartment at Waterside Apartments, where 35 cannabis plants were found.

Sgt Richie Daly said: “The plants were seized with a value of €28,000 and a male in his early forties was arrested.”

The man was detained at New Ross Garda Station for questioning.

In a separate search the previous day at 7.30 a.m., the detective branch found a small quantity of suspected heroin at a house on Michael Street. No arrests were made and gardaí are following up on their enquiries. 

At 10.30 a.m. that day a small quantity of cannabis herb was found at an apartment at the Waterside Apartments in Rosbercon.

At around the same time a small amount of cannabis was found in a property at Maiden Lane.

The raids were carried out as part of Operation Tara into the sale and supply of drugs in the New Ross district.
