A vigil takes place for the people of Ukraine this Thursday at 7 p.m. People are asked to wear blur and yellow or the Geraldine O’Hanrahan colours and candles.

Organiser Dawn Morley said: “I wanted to do something. I spoke with Michael Sheehan who advised me. I just felt as a human being and a person that I wanted to somewhere with other people and recognise that we all have friends in Europe and they are all being touched by this and so many of them and Irish people also, have relations in Ukraine.”

She said with blanket coverage on the news and on social media, she said: “I think this has hit us like nothing else before and to see the Russian people protesting, that is so brave. I want us all to come together on Thursday to support human beings who are in pain.”
