The Water Safety Team from Fethard RNLI were in Ramsgrange NS to present their newly introduced Schools Programme to the pupils in each classroom.

The programme aims to educate children about the importance of water safety.

Volunteers, Brendan O’ Callaghan and Nadia Blanchfield had a very informative powerpoint presentation prepared which the children thoroughly enjoyed, and plenty of questions followed afterwards.

Unfortunately, the lifeboat itself was unavailable on the day, but a demonstration of the RNLI drysuit, helmet and jacket was provided, which the pupils were very impressed by.

Principal, Ms Lorraine Kennedy thanked both volunteers and commended them on the quality of the presentation.

“Ramsgrange is quite close to the coast, so to have the RNLI provide information on the dangers associated with water was a very valuable experience,” said Ms Kennedy.
