Fethard/St.Mogues GAA
On a busy week for Fethard players on Wexford county teams first up were the U20 Hurlers who took on Offaly in the Leinster Final in Carlow last Wednesday. It was to be a disappointing evening for Eoin, Cian and Cillian as they lost out by two points. The Byrne brothers contributed 16 of Wexford’s 22 points in the game and gave their all to try and secure victory.
On Saturday evening Richie Waters and John Tubritt featured as substitutes with the Wexford senior footballers who played Antrim in Wexford Park. Despite leading by five points in the first half the lost out to a strong second half performance from Antrim. They play Leitrim in two weeks time knowing a win will see them progress to the knockout stages.
Mikie Dwyer was among the scorers as Wexford senior hurlers led Westmeath by 16 points at half time in Wexford Park on Sunday. It all went wrong in the second half as Westmeath got four goals to grab an unlikely victory. Wexford need to beat Kilkenny next weekend to be sure of avoiding relegation for next year’s championship.
The Fethard/St.Mogues Junior B hurlers play Geraldine O’Hanarahan’s in New Ross next Friday evening at 7.30 in the first round of the championship. They are away to Bannow on the following Friday evening.
