Grantstown News
Songlines Performance Day – There was great entertainment in the old church on Wednesday morning which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who attended. Billy Roche and Margaret Galvin compered the show and contributed to the proceedings.
The real stars on the morning were the residents, clients and staff who took part. The residents who performed were Michael Colfer, who sang ‘Roads of Kildare’. Maura Furlong, who recited ‘The Old Woman of the Road’. Caroline Byrne, who recited her own poem about her mother entitled ‘Mummy and Me’ and Justin Curtis, who sang ‘The Fields of Athenry’ and recited ‘The Garrycullen Steward’ which is a poem about Mick Hennessy’s uncle. Our client’s Marie Hunt and James Israel sang some tunes from ‘Song of the South’ and then James amused everyone with some animal impressions. Staff member Julie Barden sang ‘One Day at a Time’ and last but not least the manager Paul Carey recited a poem in Irish called ‘Beannacht’.
It was a very enjoyable final Songlines Performance Day which ended all too soon. Special thanks to Billy, Margaret and all the contributors who have entertained us over the past few weeks.
