The service is available free of charge, and will be completed in a manner that is sensitive to your own personal wishes and requests.

Summer Stars at library

Registrations open this Monday, June 13, for Summer Stars Reading Adventure 2022! The free national reading programme for children will take place in all public libraries and online each summer.

All children are invited to join the adventure and to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer and collect free gifts along the way, right up till August 31. All ages can join.

Knock Pilgrimage

There will be an overnight trip to Knock Shrine on Sunday and Monday, July 3/4, for the Ferns Diocesan Day. Starting from the Rower at 8 a.m. Sunday morning, July 3. Pick up points: New Ross, Ballinaboola, Terrerath, Ferry Bridge, Inistioge, Thomastown. Evening Meal and B/B in St Mary’s, Knock on Saturday. Evening meal on Monday on return journey. Cost: €120. Radon meetings

Two public meetings will take place in New Ross Library on June 28.

June on the topic of radon gas at 1.30 p.m. and 7 p.m. Exposure to radon gas in Ireland is linked to 350 lung cancer cases each year in Ireland, so it is a significant public health hazard.

The meetings are hosted by Wexford Public Libraries, in partnership with the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), and supported by Healthy Wexford.

Come along and you can meet experts in radon and find out straightforward and practical ways of protecting your family from radon.

The meetings are an opportunity for those who have measured high radon levels, but who are unsure of the actions they can take and who are unaware of the radon risk in the area.

By attending, you will find out about radon, what it is and how to protect your family, learn about the digital radon monitors loan scheme that you can borrow for free with your library card from your local library to measure radon levels in your home and much more.

John Curtis Memorial Run

The John Curtis Memorial Tractor Run & Walk takes place in Raheen on Friday, June 24.

Registration is from 6 p.m. at Raheen Community Centre for the event held in memory of the community minded family man who passed away two years ago.

Proceeds are in aid of the Irish Cancer Society and Raheen Parish Graveyard.

St Oliver’s NS

Ballyhack NS enrolment

St Catherine’s National School, Ballyhack is now taking enrolments for the school year 2022/2023.

Your child must turn four on or before September 1, 2022.

Spanish students

Host families are required for the return of Spanish students to New Ross from July 4 to 31.

The students will attend school in St Mary’s New Ross to learn English.

Irish group

Are you interested in being part of an informal Irish Conversation Group for Adults? Perhaps you could learn, or help others improve their Irish language skills? We meet once a month in New Ross Library. Group is self-facilitated. Contact New Ross Library for details. 051-421877.

Study spaces at library

New Ross Library provides six study spaces that can be used in two hourly slots. Booking is required for these study spaces using the LibCal booking system, which can be accessed on Wexford County Council’s Library webpage.

Bereavement support

Bethany Bereavement Support Group have now recommenced services to all who are bereaved.

The drop-in service will be held on the first Thursday of every month in St Michael’s Pastoral Centre, Michael Street in New Ross from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Knock pilgrimage

Hooley in the Park

All roads leads to Gusserane on Saturday, June 18, for the Hooley in The Park.

Taking place at Eircode Y34YX47 in Gusserane, the music will include performances by Joe Davitt and Green Road. Gates open from 3 p.m. and there will be a full bar and barbecue for the duration of the hooley which runs from 4 p.m. till 9 p.m.

Tickets cost €25, and are available through the Hooley in the Park Facebook page, and on Eventbrite.

Join Trish in New Ross Library every Thursday at 11 a.m. for a fun-packed session with lots of stories, rhymes and songs!

Storytime & Rhymetime sessions help develop early literacy skills in our youngest learners for current and future pre-schoolers in a fun and enjoyable way.

Adult Book Club

Would you like to join our Adult Book Club?

Why not combine curling up with a good book with a regular social event and join the team at New Ross Library.

Book clubs are a chance to meet up with like-minded bibliophiles and are a fantastic opportunity to make new friends and connect with other booklovers.
