Duiske Abbey is back to its usual opening times, with weekend Mass on Saturday at 7 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. and Mass week days at 10 a.m. except Saturdays.

Lotto Draw

The numbers drawn in the Graig GAA and Highview Athletic lotto draw on May 10 were 12, 23, 25, 26. There was no jackpot winner, Each of the following won €30 each Mary Wallace, Ann Long, Emily O’Driscoll, Nula Walsh, and Elaine Kinsella. Tickets available from any club member. Jackpot now stands at €20,000 and Reserve Jackpot at €11,550. Tickets are available from any committee member.

Graig Tidy Towns draw

Winners in the draw on May 13 were: 1st ​Prize Tommy Cullan €376, 2nd Prize Noreen Power €50, 3rd Prize Cillian Jordann €25. Draw takes place each Thursday at 4 p.m.

Highview Athletic

The contracts have been signed and so Highview Athletic will shortly start work on their state-of-the-art pitch at Harristown. The pitch will be fully floodlit and complete with perimeter fencing, ball stop netting and spectator railing. Work will start in late May and will hopefully will be finished before the start of the 2022/23 season.


GAA news

The intermediate maintained their unbeaten run in Div. 2 of the League following a 3-8 to 2-10 away to Ballyhogue last Fri and are through to the League Final on weekend June 12th. The hurlers will be at home to Shelmaliers in their last League game on Sun. at 2pm and are are still in with a chance of reaching the final. The junior B hurlers will have a home game v Gusserane in the District quarter final.

Coiste na nOg

Results; Under 13 Div. 5 football team lost 1-3 to 1-4 to St. James. The under 13 Div. 3 team got a walkover from Buffers Alley The Under 15 hurlers lost 3-14 to 3-24 at home to Craanford. The under 17 hurlers received a walkover from Cloughbawn in the Tournament quarter final.

Fixtures; Thurs 26th Under 15 football at home to Rosbán at 7.30. Fri. 20th Under 11 football at home to Gusserane at 7pm. Mon. 23rd Under 17 hurling semi final at 7.30. Tues 24th Under 13 hurling at home to Duffry Rovers at 7.15.

Rackard League

The Scoil Mhuire hurling team beat Castlebridge 4-13 to 1-5 to top their group and are through to the A quarter final. Eoin Cahill was selected to play on a Wexford Primary school’s team which played Kilkenny at half time in Nowlan Park last Saturday.

Exam Mass

A Mass for those sitting the Junior & Leaving Certificate Exams in June will take place in Ballykelly Church on Saturday 4th June at 6pm. All students and their families are welcome to attend. There will be light refreshments in Ballykelly hall afterwards for the students and their families.

There will be a one day coach trip to Knock Shrine on Sunday July 3rd for the Ferns Diocesan Day Pick-up Points Wellingtonbridge, Ramsgrange, Campile, and New Ross

Parent and Toddler Group

Our Parent and toddler group meets every Tuesday here at SWWFRC from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. This group is a great place for parents with small children to meet up and have a chat and for the kiddies to try all kinds of activities All are welcome and for further information please call Lorraine at 051 389418 or email community@swwfrc.ie.

Fusion Youth Café

Fusion Café continues to open for fifth and sixth class primary school pupils at South West Wexford Family Resource Centre on Mondays and Tuesdays, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m., and for Secondary School students on Wednesdays, from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

This is your chance to make friends, play games and have fun. We are also a summer Camp and some activity workshops in July so keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest updates. We have a small tuckshop with a limited variety of snacks available and for a small charge of €2, secondary school pupils can be dropped home afterwards. Free Admission to OPW sites

Don’t forget that on the first Wednesday of every month the OPW offers free entry to many of their sites. These include Tintern Abbey and John F Kennedy Arboretum. So for any individuals or families looking for a free day out, here’s your chance. Next free Wednesday is Wednesday, June 1, so mark the date in your diary.

Terrerath Community Fun Day

There will be a family fun day on Sunday, June 12, at the Terrerath Community Centre – Y34 AO27. The event is starting at midday and the official opening of the new gym will take place at 12.30 p.m. We will have a load of craft stalls selling locally made goods, a Tug-o-war competition, wellie throwing, dog show, Kids’ disco, and lots more.

Fethard-on-Sea Country Market

Our next Country Market will take place on Saturday, June 4, in St Mary’s Hall, Fethard. This will be your opportunity to buy fresh local produce and a wide variety of crafts and gifts. The market opens from 10.30 a.m. to midday, and we will have the usual mix of delicious baking, fresh eggs, jams, chutneys, chocolate, creative crafts and plants. Our members will give you a warm welcome and we are really looking forward to seeing everyone again, so please come along and say hello.

Duncannon Beach Market

The Beach Market will be back again this summer. It is planned to open every Sunday in June from 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays during July and August from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., and on Sundays from 10.30 a.m. to 4 p.m. A limited number of spaces are available so contact Dawn at 085 8718936 or Sarah at 087 1386534 for more information.

St James GAA

The barn dance is back. It will be held on Saturday, June 4, at Nolan’s Clonsharragh. The band are ‘Playing on Empty’ and tickets can be bought on the night. Tickets are €10. Pitch purchase fund is going well and the purchase process is moving along nicely. A massive thanks to everyone who donated or have pledged a donation, the club greatly appreciates it.

Lotto – The lotto results for last week were 4, 5, 6 and 31 – There was no jackpot winner. There were three match-three winners who all had a share of €1,000.00: 1) Mark O’Gorman, Old Boley 2) Eithne Magee, Bricketstown 3) Barry Og McGrath, Ballyhurst. The next draw takes place on May 31 at 8.30 p.m. in Bannow-Ballymitty GAA Club and the jackpot will be €14,000. If the jackpot is not won, the match-three prize win or share will be €1,000.00 and this match-three prize will run for next four draws.

Active Retirement Group

Our mystery tour with a competition for participants to guess where we are going. The winner goes free. This is on Wednesday, May 25, and will cost members €20 (non-members €25). This includes the coach, tea and scones at a refreshment stop and any entrance fees etc. please check with Kelly if there are any places left as we had a great uptake at the May meeting. We will be leaving Ramsgrange at 10.15 a.m., with pick-ups in Campile at 10.30 and New Ross at 10.50. This trip replaces the usual monthly cinema visit.

As bit of a change, we are going to see ‘Happy Birthday Alice’ a comedy drama at the Opera House in Wexford on June 2. This is an evening trip and the drama has had a great write up.

We have a planned a half day trip to Johnstown Castle and Kilmore Quay on June 22 Pick – ups at Ramsgrange at 10 a.m. and then Wellingtonbridge. We have further trip booked on July 20 to Kilmeaden and lunch at Jack Meade’s. Pick up at Ramsgrange at 11.15 a.m.

There are still one or two places left on the holiday to Castlebar, from September 19 to September 23 and we welcome new members and non-members to join us. If you do wish to join us on the holiday names and deposits must be with Mary B before July 4 in order to secure your place. Please call Mary at 087 2073966 for more information on the holiday.

Our next meeting is on June 13 at 2 p.m. at the SWWFRC. We will have a solicitor to speak to us about the importance of making a will no matter how old you are and ensuring that someone knows where your instructions are recorded. We have all learned through Covid how suddenly the need for this could be. Please contact Kelly at 087 6372084 for more information.
