The numbers drawn in the Graig GAA and Highview Athletic lotto draw on November 14 were 4, 20, 26, 31, and there was no winner. Each of the following won €30 each were Hazel Meadows; Doyle family, 11 Fairview; Archie Fenlon; Karen Ryan;James Kielthy. Jackpot now stands at €15,450. Tickets are available from any committee member.

Graig Tidy Towns draw

Winners in the draw on November 17 were: 1st ​Prize, K Connors c/o Gahan House, €381, 2nd Prize, Elish Costella, €50, 3rd Prize Pat Devine, €25. Draw takes place at 3.30 p.m. on Thursdays at the Parish Office.

Duiske Players

Duiske Players director Peter Prendergast has chosen ‘Drinking Habits’ a hilarious farce for the Players’ spring production. Cast includes Lily Brenan, Stas Bolger, Edel Bolger, Edward Hayden, Brid Moloney, Rebecca Murphy, John Meaney and Jack Murphy.

Christmas Market

The market is on December 3 and 4 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. We have around 30 stalls of handcrafted gifts, decorations, woodwork, cosmetics, art, pottery and food. Visit our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/Graigabbeyhallmarket where we advertise all that’s available.

GUSSERANE

Lotto

There was no jackpot winner last week when the numbers drawn were 4, 23, 24 and 26. There was no match three winner either. This week’s jackpot now stands at €9500 while the match three wins or shares €400.

GAA club AGM’s

Gusserane O’Rahilly’s adult GAA club will hold their annual general meeting on Wednesday 7th December in the clubroom at 8pm. Mass for deceased members of the club will take place in Gusserane church on Sunday 4th December at 10am.

The Coiste na nOg section of the club will hold their AGM on Thursday 15th December at 8pm in the clubroom. Parents of underage players are urged to attend.

Exhibition

Gusserane ball alley will host an exhibition racquetball game on Friday evening next from 7.30pm when four division 1 players, including a Leinster champion, will visit the newly refurbished alley. All are welcome to come along the watch the game and maybe even pick up a few tips. The players are registered with the Templeudigan club.

Christmas Baking

St Louis Day Care Centre in Ramsgrange are now taking orders for Christmas baking. You can order your mince pies, puddings and Christmas cakes. Last date for orders is Monday 12th December. They are also holding a Christmas Bakery Fair on Saturday 17th December from 9am to 12.30pm at the centre. For more details please phone 051 389509.

Scrap Saturday

The organisers of last weekend’s Scrap Saturday would like to thank all those who responded to the call for scrap iron. All proceeds will now go towards the maintenance of the Community Field (The Fair Green) in Ballycullane.

The winner of the St Leonards Soccer Club’s Split the Pot draw last weekend was Mag Murphy.

Well done to the Gusserane U19 footballers on a 1-14 to 0-5 win over St Mary’s Maudlintown last weekend.

Historical Calendar

The 2023 Horeswood Historical Calendar has gone to print and will be available in local shops next week. Once again up to 50 photos and snippets of Historical interest are included. The cost has been kept at €10.

GAA AGM

Horeswood GAA club will hold its annual general meeting in the Indoor centre on Fri. 25th at 8pm. All are welcome.

GAA Lotto

Camogie

The Dunbrody Gaels under 18 team had a comfortable win over Mogues/O’Rahillys in the County semi final in Horeswood last Sunday and will now meet the winners of Kilross Gaels and Bannow/Ballymitty in the Final.

Tractor Run

St Louis Day Care Centre are delighted to be nominated as beneficiaries of this year’s Christmas Lights Road Run taking place on Sunday December 11th at 5pm starting in Campile. The money raised from this event through the generosity of those taking part and donations from people in the community helps us enormously in the day care to continue to provide the services we do for the older people in our community. Please come out on the day and give your support.

Bishop’s Visit

Bishop Ger Nash will visit the parish on November 26th and 27th. He will say all masses in Ballykelly and Horeswood that weekend. Tea and refreshments will be served in Campile hall after Mass on Saturday evening and in Ballykelly Hall after Mass on Sunday morning. The Bishop looks forward to meeting many parishioners.

A Christmas Market and Craft Fair will be held in Ramsgrange Community School on Sunday November 27th from 11am to 4pm. All exhibitors are welcome. Contact 051389211.

NEWBAWN

Parish Draw

The next Parish Draw will take place on Sunday, November 27, after 11 a.m. Mass. The usual prizes will be on offer. Tickets can be purchased from any of the parish council members or in the local post office. The extra prizes will be on offer for the December draw which will take place at Christmas.

GAA success

The St Abban’s Adamstown Intermediate ‘A’ football team had a good win against Garristown from Dublin on Saturday, November 5, to get to the Leinster semi-final. The final score was St Abban’s Adamstown 2-7 Garristown 1-8. All local supporters wish them all the best for the upcoming semi-final game against Multyfarnham from Westmeath.

Senior Citizens party

The Senior Citizens and community Christmas party will be held in the Horse and Hound on Thursday, December 8, at 5.30 p.m. Invitations are on the way, but if someone doesn’t receive an invitation and would like to attend, please bring it to the attention of the parish council.

Christmas split-the-pot

The annual Christmas split-the-pot tickets are currently on sale. These tickets are limited, so you need to get in early to secure your ticket for the draw which will be held on December 29 when up to €1,000 will be given out in prizes. Tickets are available in the post office after Sunday Mass or from any parish council member. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

Fr Jimmy

We continue to wish Fr Jimmy a speedy recovery and we remember him in our prayers.

Anyone, who wishes to book an anniversary Mass, christening, etc. in the church, please call into the sacristy after Sunday Mass where a member of the parish council will be present.
