RNLI Lifeboat Open Day

Fethard RNLI Lifeboat Station is delighted to offer you an exciting opportunity to become one of our team. We are recruiting and we would love for you to visit us at our Open Day on March 18th from 11a.m. to 1p.m. Volunteers are needed for the Lifeboat Crew, Shore Crew and Fundraising Team Members.

Fethard/St Mogues GAA Club

The achievements of our football team last year were recognised when Fethard/St.Mogues were crowned winners of the Club of the Year at the New Ross District Awards last Saturday night. Johnnie Power was a very worthy winner of an award for his work for the Fethard club. Another clubman, Seamie Wall was also the recipient of an award for his achievement in winning a European Handcycling title last year. Fethard players were heavily involved with Wexford teams over the weekend. Morgan Ellis featured with the Wexford U20 football team who lost out to Wicklow in the Andrew Corden Cup final last Saturday. Cian Byrne and his brother Cillian and Eoin Whelan all featured with the Wexford U20 Hurlers who played Cork in a practice match. Mikie Dwyer was an early substitute on the Senior hurling team that lost out to a last minute goal to Cork.

St Leonards Car Boot Sale

It’s Car Boot Sale time again in St Leonards with the first car booth sale of 2023 taking place on St Patrick’s Day Friday March 17. All the usual conditions. Gates open at 7am. All are welcome.

Fethard Development Association

The Fethard Development Association would like to thank all those people who came out to help with the clean up last Saturday. We collected more than 60 bags of rubbish, the village and surrounds are even more lovely now.

Congratulations to Johanna Rossitter, this fortnight’s winner of Split the Pot. Thanks to all who participated, to the businesses who have the buckets (without whom we couldn’t do it) and to Josephine Kehoe for organising it. Cards

Winners in the hall last week were Johnny Larkin, PJ Doyle and Jim Kehoe. Second went to James McDonald, Dick Power and David Murphy while third went to Johnny Flynn, Siobhan Doyle and Willie Kehoe. The Last Game Draw winners were Nick Doyle, Pat Ryan and Stasia Furlong. Raffle winners were Stasia Furlong, James McDonald and Larry Power.

Tintern Lotto

There was no jackpot winner in the local lotto last week when the numbers drawn were 12, 17, 26 and 27. The two match three winners were Richard Molloy of Boley Hill and Trish Power of Kinnagh. This week’s jackpot stands at €11,900.

Coffee Morning

The annual Daffodil Day coffee morning will take place in Gusserane Hall on the morning of Friday 24th March. All are welcome along for a cuppa and chat and to raise some much needed funds for the Irish Cancer Society.

Fittest Family

Gusserane’s Fittest Family and the Gusserane Gathering 2023 will take place in the GAA pitch on 7th May. There will be adult and children’s Fittest Family competitions. Award

Congratulations to Brian Hennessy on receiving his New Ross District award in the Horse and Hound last weekend. Brian was chosen by the Gusserane club to receive the award this year in recognition of the tireless work that he continues to do for the club.

Split The Pot

Winner of the St Leonards soccer club’s Split the Pot draw last weekend was Ryan Whitty who collects €356.

Car Boot SaleIt’s Car Boot Sale time again in St Leonards with the first car boot sale of 2023 taking place on St Patrick’s Day. All the usual conditions. Gates open at 7am and all are welcome.

Online Raffle

A final reminder that Gusserane GAA club are holding their online raffle again this year. This initiative arose from the need to fundraise during lockdown and is now becoming an important annual source of income for the club. It also offers you the chance to win a holiday voucher to the value of €1,500 with Cassidy Travel so get your name in fast.

The raffle closes on 17th March with the draw taking place in the clubhouse on 18th March. The link to buy tickets is widely circulated on Gusserane O’Rahilly’s social media accounts. Tickets cost €10 but you can get two for €18, three for €25 and eight for €50.

Lotto Draw

The numbers drawn in the Graig GAA and Highview Athletic lotto draw on March 6 were 5, 11, 14 22. There was no winner. The following won €30 each: Ann Hayden, Elish Costello, Dawn McConnell, Eleanor Doyle, Kitty Tobin. Jackpot now stands at €17,700. Tickets are available from any club member.

Graig Tidy Towns draw

Winners on March 9 were: 1st Prize - Shelly F, €399; 2nd Prize - Thomas Doyle, €50; 3rd Prize - Eva & Abi Ryan, €25. Draw takes place in the Abbey Centre at 4 p.m. on Thursdays.

Duiske Players

Duiske Players are putting on their play ‘Drinking Habits’ in the Abbey Hall Graiguenamanagh on March 23, 24 and 25 at 8 p.m. After many evenings of rehhearsals under the directorship of Peter Predergast with a cast including Edel Bolger, Stas Bolger, Lilly Brenan, Edward Hayden, Brid Moloney, Rebcca Murphy, John Meaney and Jack Murphy. A good night’s entertainment is guarenteed.
