Rathgarogue ICA

Split the Pot

It was another busy weekend for our committee, out and about, gathering up plenty of envelopes from all the supporting businesses, towards this week`s draw. The draw took place at Kehoe`s Potato Farm.

Last week`s winner who won Split the Pot scooped up €172. Congratulations again to Miriam O’Shea. A huge thanks to Corinna Hayden-Burke for her ongoing support of this fundraiser and for taking the time out of her busy schedule to do the draw at her salon in Ballywilliam. The Salon is open Tues-Sat by appointment on 087-6747921. The next draw will be held in is Husqvarna Centre New Ross

Cushinstown Church Split the pot

This is drawn every Sunday after 11 am mass and are €2 each. Bingo: Monthly Bingo in Horse and Hound, €1000 in prizes, plus raffle. Next bingo will be held on Sunday 12th June. Eye`s down at 7.30 pm sharp. Family Fun Day: This year`s family fun day will follow on from our pattern, on Sunday 7th August. Lots of fun and games for all the family and entry is free. All the usual attractions on the day, and plus a raffle with super prizes. Should you have any donations for field day please drops them into parish office. Split the pot, bingo & fun day are all fundraisers for the continuing upkeep of our parish church. Thanks for your continued support.

Line Dance Classes

Come along to Old School Hall Cushinstown every Wednesday morning at 10.30am and learn all the latest line dance moves and be ready for Garth Brooks. Line dancing is very enjoyable - it keeps you fit, keeps blood pressure down and of course is a great way to lose weight. Terrerath Community Hall

Pool Tournament - Terrerath Muintir Na Tire Community Council would like to thank all the players, the sponsors and everyone who came to watch the tournament at Paul Morrissey’s Pub Sooners on Sunday 1st May. The winner is Thomas Whelan, the runner up is Denny Bookle, and the semi-finalists are Shane Whelan and TJ Hanton. St James GAA Club lotto

Mary’s Meals

The monthly online quiz for Mary’s Meals, which has raised over €20,000 to feed hungry children in 20 countries, will be held on Friday, May 27, at 8 p.m. Contact Martin Colfer at 087 2596159.

Ramsgrange Active Retirement

Our mystery tour with a competition for participants to guess where we are going. The winner goes free! This is on May 25 and will cost members €20 (non-members €25). This includes the coach, tea and scones at a refreshment stop and any entrance fees etc. Please check with Kelly to see if there are any places left, as we had a great uptake at the May meeting. We will be leaving Ramsgrange at 10.15 a.m., with pick-ups in Campile at 10.30 and New Ross at 10.50. This trip replaces the usual monthly cinema visit.

As bit of a change, we are going to see ‘Happy Birthday Alice’ a comedy drama at the Opera House in Wexford on June 2. This is an evening trip and has a great write up.

We have a planned a half-day trip to Johnstown Castle and Kilmore Quay on June 22. Pick – ups at Ramsgrange at 10 a.m. and then Wellingtonbridge.

We have a further trip booked on July 20 to Kilmeaden and lunch at Jack Meade’s. Pick-up at Ramsgrange at 11.15 a.m.

There are still one or two places left on the holiday to Castlebar, from 19th September 23 and we welcome new members and non-members to join us. If you do wish to join us on the holiday, names and deposits must be with Mary B. before July 4 in order to secure your place. Please call Mary at 087 2073966 for more information on the holiday.

Our next meeting is on June 13 at 2 p.m. at the South West Wexford Family Resource Centre (SWWFRC). We will have a solicitor to speak to us about the importance of making a will no matter how old you are and ensuring that someone knows where your instructions are recorded. Fethard Bingo

Fethard bingo will restart on Thursday evening, June 2, at the new earlier time of 8 p.m. We welcome back all our players and very much look forward to seeing you all again.

Fethard St Mogue’s GAA

Well done to Mikie Dwyer, who scored what was probably the best point of the game late on to ensure Wexford senior hurlers had a four point win over Kilkenny in Nowlan Park last Saturday night. Wexford now progress to the all-Ireland quarter-finals.


Congratulations to all the children who made their Confirmation recently in All Saints, church, Templetown. Well done also to their parents and teachers who prepared them for the day.

Baginbun Beach

Work has started recently on the development of new parking spaces and a proper safe slipway to the Baginbun Beach. These developments will be of huge benefit to locals and visitors alike.

Coiste na nÓg

This year’s Cúl Camp in Fethard St Mogue’s is on from August 15 to August 19 from 10 a.m. to 2.30 p.m. daily. Book via Fkelloggsculcamps.gaa.ie.

On the Hook

The 2022 edition of the annual On the Hook magazine is currently on sale in local shops. As usual this issue is brim full of photos and articles from the past and more recent times while capturing the events which happened in the community the last year. Cost just e13 the magazine is a fantastic buy giving hours of reading.


Elaine Byrne Kelly

The Rathimney and Gusserane area was saddened last week to learn of the death of Elaine Byrne Kelly after a long battle with illness. Our deepest sympathies go to Elaine’s parents, Richie and Ann Byrne and to her sister Carrie and brother Eddie and the extended Byrne family on their sad loss.

First Communion

Congratulations to all those who received their First Holy Communion in St John the Baptist Church last Saturday. It was a big day for Ali Barron, Carolyn Egan, Maeve Corcoran, Clara Hughes, Lucy Kent, Darragh Murphy, Sammie Whitty, Jim Barron, Tommy Corcoran, Cian Foley, Sinead Kehoe, Eoghan Mooney and Sara O’Farrell and no doubt they and their families had a day to cherish.


There was no jackpot winner in the lotto last week. The numbers drawn were 3, 6, 7 and 11. The four match three winners were Edno Doran, Tintern; Eddie Byrne, Garrycullen; Brigid Delaney c/o T Power; Johnny Flynn, Cloonagh. Next week’s jackpot is €5600.

Knock trip

There will be a one day coach trip to Knock Shrine on Sunday July 3rd for the Ferns Diocesan Day. Pick-up Points at Wellingtonbridge, Ramsgrange, Campile, and New Ross. Fare € 65 including two meals. Contact Nicholas Bowe on 087 9418661 to book.

Fun Walk

Gusserane Parent’s Association are holding a 3K fun run/walk on 12th June at 11am.

All monies raised will go towards buying resources for the school. Sponsorship cards are available at the school and donations are welcome on the day. Parking will be at Gusserane GAA pitch. All are welcome to come along.

Last Man Standing

The English Premier League came to a close last weekend which also heralded the end to the St Leonards’ Last Man Standing competition. The prizemoney of €1000 was shared amongst the last three survivors. Congratulations to Hilda Sinnott, Fintan Ryan and Philip Codd who defied the odds to be still standing at the end of the league.


All action in Gusserane ball alley was suspended last week as a mark of respect to the Byrne family on the sad passing of Elaine. Elaine was an All Ireland champion at underage level with Gusserane Handball club in the ‘eighties and her brother, Eddie, is an active member of the club.

The knockout stages of the singles tournament will resume this week with the following pairings; James Wall V Terry Murphy; Paddy Whelan V Jack Foley; Paudie Foran V Ger Breen; Barry Murphy V Robbie O’Brien; Eoghan Foran V Tomas Asple; JJ Murphy V James Mullally; Tommy Byrne V Seamus Daly; Ken Stamp V Mick Barron. The Shield draw will take place once Ian Kennedy plays Brian Creane and Tom Quigley plays Dominic Porter.

Golf Classic

The Gusserane GAA annual golf classic is booked in to New Ross Golf Club for Friday 22nd July. Further details to follow closer to the event.
