Late Margaret Kelly

The Kelly, Keating and Shannon families would like to thank all our neighbours, friends and community for the kind words, prayers and support shown to us before and following the death of Mrs Margaret Kelly (Mrs K).

The countless apple tarts, scones, soup, etc were so very much appreciated and the phone calls, cards, visits and story sharing kept the show on the road and gave us strength when we needed it most. We will forever be thankful to you all. And a special thank you to Mag White, Ann Marie Rowe and the Wexford Hospice.

Fethard/St.Mogues GAA

The Fethard/St.Mogues Intermediate Footballers travelled to Callan last Saturday to play a Mullinavat team who backboned the recently successful Kilkenny All Ireland Junior football winners.

The heavy underfoot and blustery conditions made scoring difficult for both sides. Mullinavat opened the scoring from a free before Morgan Ellis replied from play. John Tubritt and Cian Byrne scored frees before Mullinavat got their second pointed free mid-way through the half. They had two goal chances in quick succession with one going well wide before Willie Doyle pulled off a brilliant save for the second. Cian Byrne rounded off the first half scoring to leave Fethard 0-4 to 0-2 ahead at the break.

They upped their game at the start of the second half but had three wides in quick succession and another shot come back off a post. Mullinavat got their first point from play minutes later but this was quickly cancelled out by a John Tubritt point. Fethard then had a long scoreless spell and Mullinavat drew level with eight minutes of normal time remaining. Cian Byrne scored from a free with three minutes remaining after receiving a very hefty challenge as he bore down on goal.

In the move of the match Jake Molloy caught the ball in his own square before soloing out and passing to Cian while taking the return pass and soloing through the heart of the opposition defence. He fed Mikie Dwyer who brought an outstanding save from the Mullinavat keeper for a fruitless forty-five. Jake intercepted a pass from the goalkeeper moments later and was rugby tackled to the ground as he bore down on the empty goal. John tapped over the free seven minutes into injury time for the last score of the game as they won on a 0-7 to 0-5 scoreline.

They are now through to a Leinster Final where they will play Meath kingpins Dunshaughlin. The game is fixed for Saturday 3rd December and it is hoped that it will take place as a double header with Adamstown who have qualified for the Junior Final.
