Wexford Lions Club has received two substantial donations for the ongoing Ukraine Appeal. The boys and girls at Glynn National School held a number of events including a jumble sale and raffle. Their efforts resulted in almost €1200 being presented to the club to support Ukrainians arriving in Ireland.

A further sum of €1,750 was donated by the staff at C&D Providers in Larkin's Cross. Almost four years ago, staff at the company started a lotto syndicate with members putting their winnings back into the pot for distribution when they felt they had sufficient funds. In a sign of the goodwill and warmth Wexford people are renowned for, they chose to donate this money to a local charity rather than spend it themselves.

In selecting Wexford Lions Club's Ukraine Appeal, the staff explained that they knew 100 per cent of the funds donated would be spent alleviating the immediate needs of people escaping the war in Ukraine and finding a home, however temporary, in Wexford.

“Wexford Lions Club are proud to be associated with Glynn N.S and C&D Providers,” said Trina. “The warmth being shown to us and the goodwill is immense and makes being a lion a great experience.'
