Members of Gorey Musical Society put a lot of time, dedication and passion into their recent show, so finding out they are nominated for seven AIMS awards was music to their ears.

The group received nominations across seven categories for their production of The Sound of Music. This includes Best Technical; Best Ensemble; Best Front of House and Best Overall Show. Laura Carroll has been nominated for the Best Actress award for playing the role of Maria, while Ronan P Byrne is in the running for the Best Actor award for his portrayal of Captain Von Trapp. Meanwhile, Stephen Acton has been nominated for the prestigious Best Director Award.

"We were all over the moon by the whole thing, especially the children,” said PRO Cathy Quirke. “The success is all down to the fantastic team and the work and dedication of the cast under the guidance of our Chairperson Concepta.”

On behalf of the group, Cathy wished a huge thank you to Chairperson Concepta Church; the committee; Director Stephen Acton; Musical Director Conor McCarthy; Choreographer Megan McEvoy; Stage Managers Paul Doran, Frank Byrne and Nigel May; set painter Gabrielle Brickley, and their loyal patrons and sponsors.
