THE people in and around Glenbrien got to avail of a great get-together recently courtesy of O’Brien’s Inn.

The Glenbrien Summer Festival initiative was organised to give families a chance to visit the pub and enjoy a relaxed, informal get-together but with no onus on anyone to spend money in the premise.

Commenting about the initiative to the Enniscorthy Guardian, the event organiser Keara Howard said the aim was to organise something that kids would be able to enjoy over the summer.

With that in mind it's planned the get-togethers will take place every weekend until August 22.

“We wanted the pub to be more than just a pub and to be able to bring families into it and to have something there to entertain families,” said Keara.

There is chipper food available courtesy of the Van Takeaway and as Keara pointed out the aim is to give people the opportunity to enjoy an outoor supper in the summer weather.

“They can get their supper outside, and not at crazy prices, and there is no onus on anyone to spend money in the pub," she said. “We just want people to be able to avail of the pub in a different way.”

There is entertainment provided too courtesy of Shine Bright Theatre, Odd Socks and live musicians.

"We will have Mickey and Minnie Mouse every week for the younger kids and the live music begins at 6 p.m.” said Keara.
