To mark the 100th Anniversary of the Irish Kennel Club [IKC} a competition was run whereby school children were invited to submit entries of their ‘Dream Dog’.
5th class pupils, under the watchful eye of their teacher Mary Kirwan, enthusiastically undertook this task and the results were amazing in their range, creativity and imagination.
“They chose several different artistic media - clay, drawing, painting, construction and even one child submitted a hand sewn model of a dog!
“Their work was displayed at the “Festival of Dogs” in Leopardstown Racecourse for the last weekend of May,” said acting principal Mairin Jackson.
While all were winners the overall prize was awarded to Peadar Cullen and Charlie Roberts for their Sausage Dog ‘Sauce’ made from toilet roll inserts.
“Thanks to the IKC for their fabulous prizes with every child receiving a medal and lollipops, the class receiving a trophy and €100 and the winners receiving a hamper of Dog friendly treats and toys.”
