Castle Delights Bakery and Cafe in Morriscastle recently marked 15 years in business and to celebrate, they decided to bring the community together for a good cause.

To coincide with the anniversary, the cafe owners held a coffee morning in aid of Hope Cancer Support Centre. Local people and tourists from around Wexford joined together for the event, which saw over €1,000 being raised for the local organisation.

"For years, I’ve been supporting the Hope Cancer Support Centre as I am interested in their work and wanted to find a way to help them to help cancer patients. I’ve held numerous coffee days over the years. We are 15 years in existence this year so we decided to do a coffee morning as we haven’t been able to do any since 2019,” explained cafe owner, Anne Marie Hammel. “It was very well attended on the day. We raised €1,000 and still have money coming in. I’d like to thank everyone that came along and helped out on the day.”

In addition to enjoying tea and cakes from the cafe, guests also tried their luck at guessing the number of coffee beans in a jar. The person with the closest guess won themselves afternoon tea for four at the cafe.

The recent fundraiser was one of many activities taking place Castle Delights. Every Wednesday from 10.30 a.m. until 1 p.m., a knitting group comes together at the venue. A series of Open Mic nights will also take place each Friday evening in August.
