THE Orchard Peace Park in Enniscorthy will provide the venue for a very special event on June 11.

In association with Cruinniú ná nÓg, Wexford County Council and Creative Ireland are organising a series of workshops in the Presentation Arts Centre which will culminate in a special biodiversity parade taking place in the Peace Park.

The workshops are aimed at getting people out and about and encouraging them to create themed costumes for people like roller skaters, skateboarders, cyclists, wheelchair users and scooter enthusiasts in Enniscorthy.

Using the local environment as inspiration, young people will learn how to make costumes and decorations for their wheels.

A spokesperson for the Presentation Centre said “bees, dandelions, swans, trees, and bats will inspire young people to design and create costumes linked to the natural world around them”.

The participants will learn how use upcycled materials from broken umbrellas through to cardboard boxes, to make costumes, headpieces and streamers for the parade.
