Gorey Little Theatre
Gorey Little Theatre's AGM will take place on Monday, May 29 2023 at 7.30 p.m. We are always looking for new members so if you have any interest in getting involved with any aspect of the theatre please come along and become part of our team.

Graveyard
The restored historic Market Square Graveyard is now open, weather permitting, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays, for the summer. Information leaflets are available on request.
The graveyard was restored by Gorey Tidy Towns, Christ Church, Gorey, and Wexford County Council from 2018 to 2020.
Plants cultivated from the box tree in the centre of the graveyard are on sale for €2 in the cemetery. Proceeds go to Gorey Tidy Towns.
Community Development Group
Gorey Community Development Group is a voluntary organisation of of people from the Gorey area who wish to support the town’s development and growth.
This includes working with Wexford County Council to preserve the heritage of the Market House and benefit the local community, develop an inclusive multi-purpose community centre, and serve as an umbrella group for the many voluntary organisations doing great work in the town.
Everyone is welcome to join the group, which meets fortnightly on a Wednesday evening. Anyone interested in becoming involved please email goreycommunitydevelopment@gmail.com or contact Michael 087 9770497 or Tamsin 085 167 4349.
Everybody is welcome to Gorey Community Development Group’s first Town Hall update meeting, which will take place in the Loch Garman Arms Hotel’s Function Room on Wednesday, May 31 between 8 p.m. and 9 p.m.
Obituaries
The Gorey Guardian offers tribute obituary pieces for bereaved family members and friends within the local community who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one.
The weekly service is offered free of charge, with all obituaries completed in a manner that is sensitive to your own personal wishes and requests.
The obituaries are also shaped entirely by your direction and they are written in full consultation with you at all times and at all stages.
This ensures that they are a fitting tribute to the deceased person.

St Vincent de Paul
St Vincent de Paul is available to assist families who maybe experiencing particular financial stress, especially with basic necessities.

Bat talk
As part of Biodiversity Week 2023, the Wexford Bat Group is delighted to hold a talk aimed at anyone with an interest in wildlife, with a focus on our Irish bats.
It will take place at Gorey Library on Saturday, May 20 from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. The talk will introduce our local species and discuss where they are found, what they require to survive and the threats they face.
How we identify bats and use bat detectors to listen in to their ultrasonic world will also be covered.
The talk will give information on the Wexford Bat Group which was formed in 2022 with the aim of promoting the appreciation and conservation of Bats in county Wexford.

NWSPCA AGM
The North Wexford Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NWSPCA) AGM will be held in the Loch Garman Arms in Gorey on Wednesday, May 17 at 7 p.m.
All welcome to attend.
Baby Rhyme Time
Join us at Gorey Library on Thursday, May 25 from 10:30am - 11:00 a.m. for a fun session of singing and rhymes! This is an interactive session for 0-2 years. Booking essential.
Please make sure to book for both the children and the adults who will be attending.
Bee Hotel Workshop
Join Rob from Red Meadow Woodworkery for this fun filled bee hotel workshop on Saturday, May 20 from 10.30 a.m. until 11.30 a.m. Learn all about solitary bees in Ireland and how to make a bee hotel to encourage them into your garden.
Use your problem solving abilities to fill the bee hotel structure with recycled materials, including small branches and pine cones. All participants get to take the bee hotel home with them at the end of the session, along with a leaflet to help identify the most common solitary bees in Ireland. Suitable for 6-12 year olds.

Exhibition
Gorey School of Art will undergo a creative transformation as the classrooms becomes a colourful gallery this June bank holiday weekend.
The annual student exhibition is always a highly-anticipated event in the school’s calendar and this year proves no different. After nine months of painting, sculpting, snapping photos and more, the students are ready to showcase their work.
The 2023 exhibition will put a artwork in a variety of mediums on display including painting, print, sculpture, ceramic, photography and mixed media.
All of this artwork was created by students on one of the many Gorey School of Art courses which include full-time courses in portfolio preparation, documentary filmmaking and photography, alongside part-time courses in painting and photography.
This year marks 26 years since the school was opened in the Gorey Community School building and, since then, the tutors have been supporting people of all ages to pursue their artistic passions.
The school staff are also passionate about working with the local community and work closely with Wexford artists and organisations to promote the arts in the area.
The exhibition will open to the public on Friday, June 2 from 7 p.m. until 9 p.m. and run for several days. It s open to anyone interested in art.
My Open Library Service
The My Open Library in Gorey Library service offers extended opening hours by providing library access to My Open Library members from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day, 365 days of the year.
Staffed hours continue on the normal schedule.
You must be 16 or over to register for this service. Under 16s can access only with a parent or guardian.
