Askamore Prayer Group continues in the Prayer Chapel in Askamore Church each Thursday at 7 p.m.

First Communion – Congratulations to our young people from Ballyellis NS who received their First Communion on Saturday last the May 13 in St Bridget’s Church, Askamore.

Ballyellis NS split-the-pot

Winner of split-the-pot on Friday, May 12, was Emma and Jack Doyle, Ballinabarney, Gorey – winning €135. Split-the-pot envelopes can be had from any parent in the school or by calling into the school. Many thanks to everyone for your support. It is much appreciated.

Askamore Community Council

Our fabulous Tidy Towns committee are holding a table quiz to raise funds for the upkeep of the park and surrounding areas around the village to keep it looking beautiful. The table quiz will take place on Friday, May 19, at 8 p.m. The entry fee is €10 per person, four per table. There will also be a Monster Raffle on the night for hampers and lots of goodies. All proceeds will go to the hardworking Tidy Towns group, who do such a fabulous job. Your support would be appreciated. Thank you.

Steps and Styles dance lessons every Wednesday evening 8.30 p.m. Everyone is welcome.

Pilates every Wednesday morning in Askamore Hall at 9 a.m.

Zumba Classes will take placed every Wednesday at 7 p.m. in Askamore Hall.

Kilrush-Askamore GAA

Lotto – The lotto jackpot of €8,800 was won in the last draw. The numbers were 5, 14, 23 and 32. Congratulations to Mary and Eamonn Doran. The next jackpot starts off at €3,000. Lucky-dip winners were Garry and Lin Doran, Emma Murphy, Colin Sunderland, Brigid Clauson. Seller’s Prize: Mary Owens. Next draw takes place on Tuesday, May 23, in Ferns St Aidan’s GAA Pitch at 10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased from any club member, in Jim Byrne’s, Codd’s Kilrush and Coleman’s Tombrack.

Club and County Draw – A big thank you to all who supported the draw. The funds raised from this draw helps towards the running cost of our grounds. Congratulations to Raymond Lancaster on winning a €50 Co. Wexford chamber shopping voucher. Next draw takes place on Wednesday, May 31.

Ballyroebuck Hall

Ballyroebuck Hall hosts a weekly social get together on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to midday For €4, you can play a few books of community bingo and enjoy a cup of tea and the old catch up while you are there.

225th Anniversary of the Battle of Bunclody.

Bunclody/Kilrush Pike group 225th commemoration of 1798 will take place on Sunday, June 4, at 7 p.m. in Bunclody. For those who want to get active and stay healthy, we have ladies keep fit on Tuesday mornings at 9:30, Pilates on Thursday evenings at 7pm, and yoga starting on Wednesday 4th April.

And if you’re a part of the active retirement community, we have a Friday morning session from 10am to 12:30pm.

We encourage everyone in the community to take advantage of the fantastic facilities on their doorstep and support the Resource Center moving forward. It’s a great way to stay active, meet new people, and have fun!

Dog walkers note

If you are using the parish field to walk your dogs could you please ensure that you pick up after your dog especially around the fence and the gateway into playground as this is where small children use every day.

Recycling Clothing Banks

Reminder. Please do not leave bags at the clothing bank if the bank is full. Bring it home and come back another day. The bank is emptied regularly.

Ballygarrett Golf Society

We had a glorious day at the lovely manicured Courtown GC, scores were hard to come by but some were well able to manage more than others, our handicap secretary aka the viper Jim Sugrue playing off 17 came in with a great score of 31 points. A special mention for Sarah Donnellan playing off a handicap of 1 came in with a fantastic score of 29 points. Thanks to Pat Timmons and Timmons Engineering for sponsoring all the prizes.

FAI Soccer Camp

The FAI Summer Soccer School is coming back to Killenagh Park this summer. 17-21 July 2023 (10am-1pm daily). The camp is suitable for boys and girls aged 6-14years of age. Booking is now open. Ballygarrett Tidy Towns

Over the last 2 weeks the local National School has undertaken a spring clean of different areas in the community as part of An Taisce National Spring Clean , Clean Coasts. Areas covered include the school grounds, local church car park, GAA field and yesterday 5th and 6th class headed to Cahore north and south beaches. It was a beautiful morning, we were blessed with the weather.

Again this year we are delighted to report significant decreases of litter on both beaches. We want to say a special thank you to all the individuals who clean these beaches on a regular basis.

Killenagh Wanderers FC

Carnew GAA lotto was not won numbers were 2,4,12,32, lucky dips were Paula Mulroe and Niamh Wafer, the next draw is Monday 22nd May and tge jackpot is €13,300, thanks to everyone for their support it is greatly appreciated.

Pilates classes take place on a Tuesday night in Colaiste Bhride Carnew and Thursday night in the GAA grounds, to book your place go to Kpilates on Facebook and book your slot.

Mens classes are also starting on Wednesday nights and classes must be pre booked also on Kpilates on Facebook.
