First Communion – Congratulations to our young people from Ballyellis NS who received their First Communion on Saturday last the May 13 in St Bridget’s Church, Askamore.
Ballyellis NS split-the-pot

Askamore Community Council
Our fabulous Tidy Towns committee are holding a table quiz to raise funds for the upkeep of the park and surrounding areas around the village to keep it looking beautiful. The table quiz will take place on Friday, May 19, at 8 p.m. The entry fee is €10 per person, four per table. There will also be a Monster Raffle on the night for hampers and lots of goodies. All proceeds will go to the hardworking Tidy Towns group, who do such a fabulous job. Your support would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ballyroebuck Hall hosts a weekly social get together on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to midday For €4, you can play a few books of community bingo and enjoy a cup of tea and the old catch up while you are there.

We had a glorious day at the lovely manicured Courtown GC, scores were hard to come by but some were well able to manage more than others, our handicap secretary aka the viper Jim Sugrue playing off 17 came in with a great score of 31 points. A special mention for Sarah Donnellan playing off a handicap of 1 came in with a fantastic score of 29 points. Thanks to Pat Timmons and Timmons Engineering for sponsoring all the prizes.

Ballygarrett Tidy Towns
Over the last 2 weeks the local National School has undertaken a spring clean of different areas in the community as part of An Taisce National Spring Clean , Clean Coasts. Areas covered include the school grounds, local church car park, GAA field and yesterday 5th and 6th class headed to Cahore north and south beaches. It was a beautiful morning, we were blessed with the weather.
Again this year we are delighted to report significant decreases of litter on both beaches. We want to say a special thank you to all the individuals who clean these beaches on a regular basis.
