The meeting of the Monaseed ICA was held on May 4 in the Hall in Craanford. The President Olive Doyle welcomed everyone to the meeting. There were 17 members present. It had been decided that a collection should take place for the Red Cross for Ukraine and the monies were collected.
Our member Rita Meagher gave a wonderful demonstration of decoupage, and every member got a plate to decorate. The competition winners were Kathleen Kelly and Lynn Cox. The raffle winners were Bridie Fox and Kathleen Kelly. The competition for June is the Nicest Fresh Rose. The hostesses for June are Betty Tobin and Lynn Cox. The AGM will be held in June. New members most welcome.

After more than two years of Covid lockdown, the North Wexford Historical Society are pleased to announce that our summer tours have recommenced.
Their forthcoming tours are as follows:
June 11: Walking tour of Wexford town, lunch Whitford Hotel then on to Johnstown Castle.
July (date tbc): Lullymore Heritage Park Co Kildare, Date TBD.
August 13: Trim Castle and Kells.
September: Overnight tour TBD.

Carol Carr’s handmade sunflower blanket will be up for grabs in a raffle at the Gorey Visitor Centre at the beginning of June. There’s still time to buy a ticket for the raffle, which is being run in aid of the Association of Ukrainian Refugees in Ireland (AURI). Tickets are € 1 each or € 6 for 5 and are available at the Gorey Visitor Centre, Market House, Gorey and the Arklow Ukrainian Hub at Bridgewater Shopping Centre.
Sound Out Rhythm
Everybody has rhythm. Kids can find theirs in Gorey Library with Sound Out Rhythm on June 11. Come along and celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg 2022 by experiencing drums and percussion like never before with a pro. The event will be led by professional drummer and musician Conor Moore, who hopes to have participants feeling pumped, energized and full of life throughout and after the spectacle.

As part of Cruinniú na nÓg, artist Rebecca Tighe will help kids design and create their own animation sequence using paper cutting and stop-motion techniques. Each participant will learn how to design their own character and then as a group discover the basics of stop motion animation techniques. This workshop is the perfect introduction to stop motion animation for young people aged 9-12. Booking is essential. Yugen Art Exhibition
Local artists Sheena Furlong and Trish Middleton will be holding a joint exhibition called “Yugen” in The Ford Studio Kilmuckridge from June 3 until June 6. Yugen is the Japanese word to describe the wonder of creation. The exhibition is a exploration of landscape, highlighting the many textures, colours and wonder of what is all around us. The opening reception will take place on Friday, June 3 from 7.30 p.m. to 9 p.m. with an opening speech from Wexford artist Declan Breen. It will be open daily from 11.30 a.m. to 4.30 p.m.
This June will see four Summer Fundays events taking place in Courtown Plaza and Gorey Civic Square. Come along to enjoy plenty of family fun with children’s entertainment, face painting and more!
The summer fun will kick off in Courtown on Sunday, June 5 and Sunday, June 19 from 2 p.m. There will be more family-filled entertainment on Saturday, June 11 and Saturday, June 25 in Gorey Civic Square. Finish the events with a Salsa Twist at 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
The Summer Fundays events are free of charge.
