Coolgreany Drama Festival

Coolgreany Drama’s 2021 One Act Drama Festival will take place from Wednesday to Saturday, November 17, to November 20, at St Mogue’s Hall, Inch. There will be two performances on each of the four nights of the festival.

Wednesday, November 17: Camross Drama Group (Co. Wexford) – ‘Semblance of Madness’ by John H Newmeir. Martello Productions (Shankill, Dublin) – ‘Something Unspoken’ – by Tennessee Williams.

Saturday, November 20 (Awards night): Balally Players Theatre Group (Dundrum, Dublin) – ‘Bedbound’ by Enda Walsh. Lucan Drama Society (Co. Dublin) – ‘Contractions’ by Mike Bartlett.

Performances start at 8 p.m. Tickets are available at the door or by phoning: 087 7725641. Tickets (including refreshments) are €10 per night or €25 for four nights.

Please note patrons cannot be admitted to the theatre without a Covid vaccination certificate, and no exceptions can be made. Audience members must wear face masks when in the theatre.

Arklow Positive Ageing

A shopping day is organised for November 20 to Carlow and Kilkenny, cost is €20.

Old Kilnenor Historical Society

We held our AGM last Thursday, November 4, and the committee elected: chairperson Pat Cullen; secretary Elizabeth McCarthy-Byrne; treasurer Bernadette Cullen; PRO Damian Nash.

Golden Circle

Golden circle social group have arranged a shopping trip to Waterford for Saturday, November 27, Departing from Tesco carpark at 9 a.m., bus cost €20, Please contact Gertie to book your place.

Our Christmas dinner will be held in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Sunday, December 12, Doors open at 2.30 p.m. Dinner will be a full four course meal, Starter, Turkey and ham main course, dessert and tea or coffee with live music by Brendan McDermot. Tickets at €25 each will be available from Gertie or any committee member shortly.

Christmas Lights

Chatting Bench

I am attending the Craanford Sports Complex on November 29 at 11 a.m. for community policing initiative Chatting Bench. This initiative is for the members of the public to get to know their local garda and have a chat with me.

GAA club news

Well done to all involved with the underage hurling tournament at the minute. A great buzz and excitement about the place. A credit to all, the tournament continues this weekend.

Our under-14 boys are involved with the Martin Storey tournament and they had a most impressive win v Ferns. Match this weekend is away to Bunclody while the intermediate women had a fantastic win over Blackwater. Hard luck to the under-17 hurlers v Cluain Abbain.

Lotto – There was no winner of the jackpot of €8,700. Numbers drawn were 2, 1, 14 and 27. Lucky-dip winners: Roseanne Lancaster, Hugh Kenny, John Lancaster Jnr, Peter and Susan c/0 Emma Poole, Olive Doyle.

Scrap metal collection fundriaser

If you have any scrap metal lying around, Cllr Donal Kenny and Diarmuid Kinsella are collecting scrap metal as a fundraiser for Craanford Fr O’Regan’s GAA and camogie club, they will arrange a collection with you at your convenience.

Used stamps for the Missions – Again a big thank you to the people in Craanford and Monaseed for their ongoing support for the Missions by putting their stamps in the boxes in the porches in both churches. A reminder to take off the stamps, leaving around 1.5cms around the stamp please, from their envelopes and put them in the box in the church porches.

Unwelcome visitors

Ballyfad Church had some very unwelcome visitors during the past week. The damage left behind far outweighs what they got away with. If anybody saw anybody or any vehicle acting suspiciously in the area, on Monday please contact the guards with any information you might have.


Masses continue in KIlanerin on Tuesday and Fridays 9.30 a.m. Saturday 6.30 p.m. and Sunday 11 a.m. Eucharistic adoration continues in Kilanerin Church on Tuesday after morning mass to 9 p.m. Masses in Ballyfad are Wednesday and Thursday 9.30 a.m. Saturday 7.30 pm and Sunday 9 a.m. and Eucharistic adoration on Wednesday mornings from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m Bookings for church events can be arranged by contacting Siobhan in the Parish office 0871765744

Irish Dancing Classes

Art Studio

A memorial Mass for all the deceased of the parish and harvest Mass will be celebrated on Thursday next, November 18, at 7.30 p.m. in St Kevin’s church. All welcome to attend.

Cemetery fundraising

Many thanks to all who have donated to the fundraising campaign for the purchase of extra land for the cemetery at Kilcavan. Your support and generosity is greatly appreciated.

This fundraising will continue as we still have a long way to go to reach our target.
