Ballyfad Run

A Road Run will take place in Ballyfad (eircode Y25 €375) on Sunday, September 5. Registration is at midday, and the drive starting at 1 p.m.

The run will include cars, bikes, tractors, trucks, and vintage, hot food will be served on site on the day.

Baby boy

Congratulations to Vanessa and Darren O’Toole on the birth of their son Bua on July 15. No doubt Kate is overjoyed with a new grandson, and Gavin and Tanya are thrilled with their newborn nephew.

CE Scheme.

Tidy Towns news

The Tidy Towns are looking for a photo of the drapery shop that was on the Green in Knockgreany, originally owned by Mrs Kelly. It would be great for the heritage weekif we could get one, so please check out your old photos.

As the Tidy Towns competition adjudication is in progress as much help as possible is needed around the village, please come along and give a hand.

Vintage day

The third annual vintage day will be held in Coolgreany on Sunday, September 12, subject to Government guideline, all vintage and auto jumble welcome, more details later.

Castletown Liam Mellows GAA

It’s a hive of activity at our pitches in Castletown and Coolgreany at the minute with our senior and underage football, ladies’ football, hurling and camogie now in full swing.

Ladies Club

Riverchapel Ladies Club wishes to thank the committee for their care and kindness over the last 18 months during the pandemic.

Those involved were Sandra Diagnam, Pauline Carroll, Tina Dox, Theresa Garland, Monica Fallon and Pauline MaGuire and without these women, there would be no club.

All look forward to the return of regular activities in the club on September 13 from 7 p.m.

GAA club news

Well done to our intermediate hurlers who got their championship campaign off to the best start with victory over Shamrocks CF 2-15 SR 2-13. Another great win for the under-13 hurlers v Davidstown, huge win lads, CF 4-12 DC 1-08, well done. Under-15 hurlers v St James drew, 4-12 apiece, well done lads. Hard luck to our minor footballers away to Castletown and at home to Ballygarrett. under-20 will advance to semi-final after OLI/St Fintan’s conceded the match.

Camogie – The ladies had two great challenge matches v Carnew and Tara Rocks, all beneficial prior to championship. Thanks to all our mentors who give so generously of their time to all our teams, it is very much appreciated.

Annual golf classic – The club’s annual golf classic will take place in Coolattin on Friday, August 27. Contact Michael Lyons for further information.

The church car park in Kilanerin will be used in the assistance of parking cars for the HSE vaccination centre in KCC. People attending the church are welcome to use the space in front of the parochial house.


St Joseph’s AFC

Well done to the under-18 team who beat Wexford Albion in the Youth Premier League playoff on a 2-1 scoreline, the two goals being scored by Luke Darley in the last five minutes of the game. Congratulations to all.


Sympathy is extended to the family of the late Bridie Cullen, Ballyadam, Kilmuckridge, who died recently. To her husband Martin, sons John and Oliver and daughter Julie Ann.

Mattress amnesty

Following successful council mattress amnesties in recent years in which around 7,000 mattresses were recycled in Co Wexford the details of this year’s scheme have been announced.

This amnesty gives members of the public the opportunity to bring old mattresses to household recycling centres to be disposed of free of charge.

An entry fee of €2 applies. Clean dry mattresses are accepted.

Anyone seeking to avail of this amnesty should contact the environment section of Wexford County Council at 053 9196000 or by email to customerservice@wexfordcoco.ie.

Sincere sympathy from the parish of Monamolin to the Kirwan family of Camolin and to their extended family and friends on the death of James and Matthew’s parents, Séamus and Breda, who passed away at the weekend.

A double funeral took place in Boolavogue on Tuesday, August 10.May they rest in peace.

Fun and Games

A great three days of enjoyment was had in Buffers Alley with all the young players learning new skills on the pitch which will help them on their way in sports.

A big thanks to their mentors who were doing a great job.
