There was great joy and jubilation when the Kilrush Junior football team beat Monageer-Boolavogue team in an epic county final in St Patrick’s Park last week. Congratulations to all concerned in what was a well fought game by both teams in which Kilrush came out the victors, with a final score of 3-11 to 2-11. It was very much a team effort by the Kilrush lads with some outstanding performances all round. Congratulations to everyone involved with the win.

Congratulations to the under-17 Kilrush football team who had a great win over Kilmore in the final of the Enniscorthy Guardian Blackstairs under-17 Football tournament (Division 2). Final score: Kilrush 1-11 Kilmore 2-7

Health Action Course

The Health Action Course hosted by Askamore Community Council continues on Tuesday nights. Week three will have a presentation from a local life coach on work life balance which will be followed by a fitness instructor and physio on common injuries and fitness. Week four will discuss the subject of diet with a local dietician and will conclude with advice on how the local environment and beauty of nature can improve your wellbeing.

First Aid Course

Askamore Community council are holding a basic first aid course on Tuesday, November 30, December 7 and 14. Price is €45. Further info at 087 2898805. The course will be given by Sensible Safety, Enniscorthy.

GAA lotto

There was no winner of the last draw in which the numbers were 2, 4, 21 and 29. The lucky dips went to Mag and Jim Dunbar, Colm Fortune, Jackie Tighe, John and Angela Power. Seller Prize: Michael Murphy. Next draw is on Tuesday, November 23, at Ferns St Aidan’s GAA Grounds at 10 p.m. The jackpot now stands at €15,000.

Bunclody Christmas Market

A Christmas Market with up to 20 stalls will be running from 10 a.m. 5 p.m. in the Square in Bunclody on both Saturday the 20th and Saturday, November 27.

Please come along to support local crafters and makers with both new and good as new items for sale. You will be able to purchase your Holly Wreath and enjoy some music and fun on the day.

The turning on of the Christmas Lights will also be performed in the evening.

Coolattin Christmas Market

A Christmas market is being held at Coollattin house, Shillelagh on December 4 and five, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Hand made crafts, tea or coffee, art exhibition and lots of festive fun. Please come along and do your Christmas shopping locally.

BALLYCANEW

First Responders AGM

The AGM of the Ballycanew Community First Responders will be held on Wednesday, December 8, at 8 p.m. in the Church of Ireland Hall. All welcome to attend. Will be held within Covid guidelines.

Split-the-pot

Congratulations to Saturday, November 13 winner of split-the-pot, The Ham – prize was €194. Thanks to everyone for your continued support. Envelopes will be available at usual locations this week.

St Patrick’s GAA lotto

There was no winner of the jackpot on Monday, November 2; winning numbers were 9, 13, 22 and 25. Eileen Doyle matched three numbers to receive €150.

Irish Dancing

Community Development Association

We are aware that Wexford County Council have closed the community call helpline. Please rest assured we will still be here if anybody needs us. With new restrictions for a family now to isolate this may cause some problems. A gardening course starts next Thursday morning 10 a.m. at Ballycanew Resource Centre – we are delighted to have Elaine from Springmount Garden Centre giving us some great ideas for our gardens.

Modern Jive Dancing – Smooth modern jive every Tuesday night in Ballycanew Resource Centre. Take the opportunity and get out have fun and have the craic. It’s been a long time coming. No partner needed.

Light up your Tractor

A Christmas themed Tractor Run in aid of Ballyoughter Parish takes place on Sunday, December 5, registration from 4.30 p.m. and leaving at 6 p.m.(meeting at Ballyougher Church car park) Raffle that night. Prize for best decorated tractor. Passing through Camolin at 6.50 p.m., Clough at 7.05 p.m., Gorey at 7.20 p.m., Ballycanew at 7.50 p.m. approx. Contact James at 087 6175529 or Brian 087 2638863.

Irish Dancing Classes

Irish Dancing classes are being held every Monday evening in the KMH kilmucridge from 5.30 p.m. to 6.10 p.m.

Killenagh Wanderers lotto

The Killenagh Wanderers lotto can now be played online at clubforce.com/clubs/soccer-killenagh-wanderers-afc-wexford. All online entries must be made by 6 p.m. on the evening of the draw. Walking Track

Reminder: With nights getting darker earlier we are happy to let you know the lights are on till 10pm to keep you bright on your jogs or walks on our track. Keep her lit. Ballygarrett GAA have a floodlit walking track that is opened every evening until 10pm. This creates a safe place to walk/run as dark nights approach while also enabling us to enjoy all the physical and mental health benefits from jogging/walking. If you are not already a club member and would like to avail of social membership to use this amenity. Social membership is €25. All money raised goes to club development. Pop up shop

Carnew Community Care charity Pop up Shop is opened on the Main Street Carnew every Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

On Friday, November 26, and Friday, December 3, they will have a Christmas gifts stall, on Thursday December 9 and Friday December 10 they will have craft stalls. On Friday, December 17, there will be cakes and produce stalls, all welcome.

Due to the present Covid regulations it has not been possible to have a Community Alert meeting to discuss the recent number of robberies in our local areas. Old Kilnenor Historical Society

Lorraine O’Dwyer and Con O’Driscoll will give a talk on Ballyfad Woods on Monday 6th December at 7.30pm in Ballyfad Community Centre. Admission €3 for non-members.

Coolgreany Tidy Towns

The Tidy Towns committee are delighted to be awarded 12 more points this year. There is great potential to further progress upwards with a little more help, thanks to all the sponsors for their help with jobs being undertaken around the village. We will hold our AGM in early January.

The Christmas lights will be going up on Saturday 27th and helped ids needed on the street that day, if you have a few hours to spare, the committee would be very grateful to get the village looking good to welcome Santa Claus.

Arklow Positive Ageing

A shopping trip is organised to Waterford on 11th December, cost €20, bus will leave Tesco car park.

Golden Circle

Golden Circle social group have arranged a shopping trip to Waterford for Saturday 27th of November, Departing from Tesco carpark at 9 am, Bus cost €20 , Please contact Gertie to book your place.

Our Christmas dinner will be held in the Arklow Bay Hotel on Sunday 12th of December, Doors open at 2:30 pm. Dinner will be a full 4 course meal, Starter, Turkey and ham main course, dessert and tea/coffee with live music by Brendan McDermot, Tickets at €25 each will be available from Gertie or any committee member shortly. Please note all those intending to attend this event will need to produce their vaccination Cert and photo Identification at the door. This is current government policy and will be enforced by the hotel and the committee
