Kilrush Drama Group
Kilrush Drama Group are busy preparing for the All Ireland Open Circuit with one of the modern classics of Irish theatre, The Beauty Queen of Leenane by world renowned playright, Martin McDonagh. It is set in the mountains of Connemara and tells the story of Maureen Folan, a plain and lonely woman in her early 40s, and Mag, her manipulative, aging mother. Mag’s interference in Maureen’s first and potentially last romantic relationship, sets in motion a chain of events that are as tragically funny as they are horrific.
Mick Byrne will direct this powerful drama and the role of Maureen Folan will be played by Joanne Logue. Playing the formidable role of Mag Folan, Maureen’s mother, is Mary Earle, New comers to the group are Niall McGrath and John Joe Murphy who play the roles of Pato and Ray respectively.
The first performances of the production will take place in St. Brigid’s Hall Carnew on Friday the 24th and Sunday the 26th of February next at 8pm. Please do come along and support the production before it heads off on the Circuit.
