Coffee morning

Friends and family of the late Dee Ronan are taking part in Relay for Life Wexford on July 8 and 9. The event, which will take place in Pairc Charman, Wexford, is held in aid of the Irish Cancer Society.

To fundraise for the event a coffee morning will be held in Jordan’s Lounge, Ballindaggin

on the June Bank Holiday Sunday, June 4, at 11.30 a.m.

Everyone is invited to go along or a cup of tea, coffee and chat. Candle bags will also be available on the day for €5 and all proceeds will go to the Irish Cancer Society. For more information about the coffee morning or the Relay for Life event contact 083 0051226.

Oulart Hill unveiling

Oulart Hill will be the location for the unveiling of a commemorative memorial at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 27. The event is being organised to mark the 225th anniversary of the Battle of Oulart Hill. Pike men and women, and everyone in the community is invited to attend and refreshments served afterwards in Oulart Community Centre, followed by a night of music and song. Club trip

Caim Vintage Club’s annual outing this year will be to Innishannon Vintage Rally, in Co Cork, on Sunday, June 4.

Obituaries

The Enniscorthy Guardian offers tribute obituary pieces for bereaved family members and friends within the local community who have recently experienced the loss of a loved one.

The weekly service is offered free of charge, with all obituaries completed in a manner that is sensitive to your own personal wishes and requests and they are written in full consultation with you at all times and at all stages.

This ensures that they are a fitting tribute to the deceased person. The Allabair Trio concert

Ferns village will be the location of a very special concert on Sunday, June 4, at 7.30 p.m. The Allabair Trio will be performing in St Edan’s Cathedral as part of the opening event of this year’s Festival of Ferns.

Bree Summer Fest 2023

The ‘Bree Midsummer Fest’ will take place in Byrne’s Grain Store on Friday, June 9.

The event is sure to be one of the music highlights of the year and will feature a formidable line-up of artists, including The Tumbling Paddies, Stuart Moyles and Olivia Douglas.

Tickets for the event, priced €25, are now available at Hammel’s Centra, Bree, or through www.eventbrite.ie for €27.55.

All proceeds from the event will go towards Bree Community Centre.

Rowing club’s 50th

Edermine Ferry rowing club is celebrating 50 years as a club this year and the committee is asking people who have old photographs relating to the club, from the 80s to 00s, to make contact with club chairperson, Bernie, on 087 9044472.

Galbally activities

The following events are continuing every week in Galbally Sports and Leisure Club: Yoga with Julie, on Mondays, at 7 p.m.; Hip Hop classes on Tuesdays, at 4.45 p.m. Dancing with Declan takes place on Friday nights with beginners’ classes from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. and everyone welcome to attend for more dancing from 8 p.m. to 9.30 p.m.

The Sports and Leisure Club is one of the most active groups of its type in the county and encourages people to use the hall.

Fr Jim Byrne appreciation

Tig Leath Sli Bun Cloidi Cummann Luthchleas Gael is planning to hold an appreciation evening for Fr Jim Byrne in the Horse and Hound Hotel Ballinaboola on Bank Holiday Monday, June 5, at 3 p.m.

Fr Jim ministered in Bunclody parish from 1965 to 1981 and is the man who started underage/Rackard League football in the local club and schools.

That resulted in a lot of success in the 1970s and that, in turn, paved the way for senior success in the 1980s.

The event will provide a great opportunity for all former players and the parish to honour Fr Jim with his family and friends.

There will be a buffet lunch and entertainment with a focus on Bunclody.

Pop-up Gaeltacht

There is a Pop-Up Gaeltacht held on the last Friday of every month in The Thatch, Kiltealy.

The events are open to everyone who has an interest in the Irish language.

The first two sessions were a great success, and everyone had very enjoyable nights on both occasions.

Everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of whether you are fluent or just have a couple of words of Irish and it’s all held in a very relaxed manner.

In addition to being an ideal way of brushing up on our native language the nights are also great social events because of their informal and very relaxed nature.

Choir members

Bunclody-Kilmyshall Parish Choir meets in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody every Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m.

New members are always welcome to join.

Caim men’s shed group

Grotto mass

The Boolavogue outdoor grotto mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 31, at 7.30 p.m.

Everyone in the community is invited to attend.

Digital ambassadors

Enniscorthy Library offers a special service which, through tutoring sessions, participants will be empowered to access the fantastic range of online library services, particularly BorrowBox which is used to download e-books and e-audiobooks to a phone, tablet or laptop/computer. It will help familiarise participants to access the internet and assist them when downloading apps to help participate in the other online activities. This service is by appointment only.
