Sympathy
We offer our sympathy to the family and relatives of the late Andrzej Marek Winnicki. His funeral Mass was celebrated on Tuesday. May he Rest in Peace.
Lotto Results
Marshalstown Castledockrell GAA Lotto results for Thursday, 11th May are Jackpot €15,000. We have a winner Lorraine Quigley who wins the jackpot of €15,000. Numbers drawn 21, 23, 24, 30. There were no Match 3 winners and the lucky Dip winners were Theresa Redmond and Myles Roban who both win €50. Thanks for your continued support.
First Holy Communion
Marshalstown First Holy Communion is on Saturday, 27th May at 11a.m. If unable to attend you can view on the webcam. The Committee invite all the First Holy Communion families to Marshalstown Community Centre afterwards for light refreshments.
The First Holy Communion took place in Castledockrell on Sunday, 7th May followed by a party in the Parish Hall. Congratulations to all the children.
Adoration
Adoration continues each Thursday after 9.30a.m. Mass in Castledockrell Church from 10a.m. to 12 noon and is open to anyone wishing to come along. Just a reminder that there is Mass every Tuesday at 9.30a.m. in Marshalstown Church and every Thursday at 9.30a.m. in Castledockrell Church. Where possible any changes will be announced at the weekend Masses in both churches.
Weekend Masses are 7.30p.m. on Saturdays in Marshalstown and 9.30a.m. on Sundays in Castledockrell. These times also apply to Holy Days.
Family Mass
The monthly Family Mass is in Castledockrell church on Sunday, 21st May at 9.30a.m. Families are encouraged to come along especially those who had or will have First Holy Communion /Confirmation or State Examinations in their family this year.
Major Competition
Congratulations to Lettie Hassett who was honoured by Tánaiste Micheál Martin TD at an exhibition for the MyEU50 Third Level competition finalists which took place recently in University College, Cork.
Lettie was a finalist alongside her co-contributor Gregor McCullagh Travers of the 3rd level competition for their entry entitled “Ireland in the EU: a fifty year journey in Human Rights and the Rule of Law”. Over 5000 pupils and students participated in a nationwide competition to mark fifty years of Ireland’s EU membership.
Lettie was presented with her MyEU50 certificate by Ryan Levis and Gabrielle Leleu form European Movement Ireland at the competition exhibition day in UCC. Well done.
Lourdes
A number of people from the Parish have travelled to Lourdes on the Diocesan Pilgrimage this week. We hope all will have a good experience and return safely.
Marshalstown Patron
The annual Patron and Blessing of graves is in Marshalstown on Sunday, 28th May. Prayers and Blessing of Graves in the Old Cemetery (Beside the Parochial House) at 2p.m. Mass and Blessing of Graves in the New Cemetery at 2.30p.m.

Bereavements
The sympathy of the community is extended to Mrs. Eileen McGrath and family on the death of her husband John, at their residence in Oulart, on Wednesday 10th May The late John, formerly of Sawmill Lane, Enniscorthy is deeply mourned and will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Eileen, daughters Barbara and Deirdre, his sisters Josie, Betty and Kitty, son-in-law Patrick, his cherished grandchildren Jason, Darragh, Jack, Ellen and Shane, great-grandchildren Halle and Harlow, extended family, neighbours and friends. John is also a huge loss to the parish community as he was one of its most loved and respected residents, always ready to lend a hand and quietly contributing in many practical ways. He was laid to rest in Oulart cemetery after Funeral Mass on Friday 12th May. Solas na bhFlaitheas dá anam dílis.
Our deepest condolences also to the Mernagh and Buttle families on the recent death of Mrs. Eileen Mernagh (née Buttle), Clohass, Enniscorthy who passed to her eternal reward on Monday 8th May. She is deeply mourned by her husband James, her son Fr. Patrick, her daughters Hilda and Clodagh, grandchildren Mark, Sarah and Ben, sons-in-law Tom and Brian, her sisters Rita and Jo, brothers Thomas, John, Colm, Norman and Eamonn, her sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Eileen was laid to rest in Davidstown cemetery, after Funeral Mass on Thursday 11th May. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam dílis.
Darkness Into Light
On Saturday 6th May, Oulart’s “Darkness into Light” charity walk took place. Voluntary donations exceeding €1,000 were collected and have been forwarded to Pieta House, to assist in its suicide prevention work. Thank you and well done to all the walkers, and to those unable to undertake the walk, who donated to the fund.
First Communions
The pupils from Second Classes in the local primary schools, from The Ballagh and Oulart, are wished the best of luck and every blessing as they make their First Holy Communion in the coming weeks.
Saturday 13th May was the special day for the First Communicants from The Ballagh while on the following Saturday, the 20th May, the Oulart children will celebrate their special day.
Parish Patrons
The annual Patron and blessing of graves in Oulart will be held on the last Sunday in June (25th) while the Patron in The Ballagh will be held as usual on the first Sunday in July. Further details will be available closer to the dates.
C.O.W.S.
The Community of Oulart Women’s Society continues to meet in Oulart Community Centre every second Tuesday night, at 8pm. The meetings are always well attended and various topics are discussed and plans made for future activities.
Following the success of the recent outing to Kilruddery House, Avoca and Glendalough plans are being made for a tour of South Wexford on 17th June. This tour will focus on the story of William and Isobel Marshal who lived around 1200 AD. Places to visit on the tour will include Tintern Abbey, Baginbun, Carnivan Beach, Slade, Hook Lighthouse and St. Dublin’s Church. To secure a seat on the bus, deposits of €25 will be collected at the next meeting on Tuesday 16th May.
Afternoon Tea
Since the formation of the C.O.W.S., two very successful Afternoon Teas have been held in Oulart Community Centre, where a Céad Míle Fáilte has been extended to everyone, to come together for tea and a chat and an opportunity to meet with people that you may not have seen for a while.
The next Afternoon Tea Party will be held on Friday 9th June, from 3pm until 5pm, and all members of the community are invited to attend. There is no charge and the members of C.O.W.S. will welcome you with open arms and serve tea/coffee and melt-in-the-mouth confectionary.
Advance Notice
This year marks the 225th anniversary of the Insurrection of 1798 and of the first major battle of that campaign-the victory on Oulart Hill, on Whit Sunday, 27th May. This year, on Saturday 27th May, a Memorial to the United Irish will be unveiled at the car park, on Oulart Hill.
Following the unveiling, Brian Cleary will give a short talk on the significance of the memorial. Then the attendance, including pike men and women, will take the short walk to Tulach a’tSolais for traditional music and song.
Afterwards, refreshments will be served in Oulart Community Centre. Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend this historical occasion as we remember with pride the men and women of 1798.
ICA Guild
Oulart ICA held its May meeting in The Legion Hall on Thursday 11th May. Guild President Mrs. Anne Byrne presided.
Sympathy was extended to the McGrath and Buttle families on their recent sad bereavements. Hostess for the night was Guild Secretary, Mrs. Anne O’Connor who served a delicious tea and Mrs. Mary Sutton won the reffle.
The Secretary will attend the National AGM on 27th May in Athlone. The Guild will take part in the Special Occasion competition in June.
The competition for the June Federation meeting is a photo of a pet animal. Breda Jacob undertook to enter that competition by forwarding a photo of her terrier, Belle.
The members were reminded once again that the Women’s Refuge in Wexford is always in need of supplies such as toiletries and clothing for women and children. Vouchers for local supermarkets were also in demand.
Clothes Collection
Oulart-The Ballagh GAA is organising a Used Clothes Collection to raise finance for the Underage section of the club. The collection date is Monday 22nd May and you are asked, between now and the collection day, to gather your unwanted used clothes and donate them to the club. RATHNURE
St Anne’s GAA Club
Lotto: jackpot Numbers drawn this week were 17, 21, 28 and 31.There was NO jackpot winner. There were two match-three winners of €100: Ann Tector, Rathnure; James Barry, Maddoxtown. Our next lotto draw will take place Live on our Facebook page at 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 16. Next week jackpot is €15,000.
Rathnure GAA Shop: will be open every Monday and Wednesday night from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Mystery Envelope draw: Rathnure GAA Club are running a Mystery Envelope draw over the coming weeks. Sellers will be calling to all houses in the parish and would really appreciate your support. Prizes are €500, €250, €125...You can’t win if you’re not in.
Split-the–Pot
