BLACKWATER
Road Run
Blackwater Vintage Club’s annual tractor, motorbike and car road run will take place on Sunday 21st May, leaving Blackwater church carpark at 12.30. Registration from 11.30am. Proceeds to St Vincent de Paul.
Active Retirement
The Active Retirement Group has organised the following Day trips over the summer.
Scenic Barrow Cruise on Saturday 20th May. Bus leaves Church car park at 9am.
Visit to Coolaught Garden Centre, Clonroche on Wednesday 7th June. Tour of Gardens followed by tea and scones - €8 pp. Car pooling on the day leaving Church car park at 10.15am.
Dog racing at Kilcohan, Waterford on Saturday 22nd July.
Bowling continues in the Hall on Thursdays at 7.30pm. New and present members are invited to attend the General meeting on the 2nd Tuesday every month.
Commemoration of 1798 Rebellion
On the 27th May on the 225th Anniversary of the Battle of Oulart Hill, a new Commemorative Memorial will be unveiled on Oulart Hill at 6pm.
On this anniversary of the Battle, Pike men and women and all others are invited to attend this celebratory event. Afterwards refreshments will be served in Oulart Community Centre, followed by a night of music and song.

BREE-GALBALLY
Tractor Run
Galbally Tractor Run in aid of Church Funds will be held on Sunday May 28th. Registration will be from 11.30am and run begins at 1pm. All vehicles must have road insurance and comply with standard farm machinery regulations.
Bree Midsummer Fest
Bree Midsummer Fest takes place in Byrne Grain Store on Friday 9th June featuring The Tumbling Paddies, Stuart Moyles and Olivia Douglas. Tickets are now available at €25 at Hammel’s Centra, Bree or on eventbrite at €27.55. All proceeds in aid of Bree Community Centre and Bree Community Development Group projects.
Macra Champions
Congratulations to the Bree Macra team of Chairman Jordan Feeley and speakers Mary Byrne and Grace Kehoe, who won the All Ireland Public Speaking Final last weekend. Jordan Feeley also won Best Speaker. The team spoke on the topic “Young People Need to Rise Up and Be Heard.
Well done also to their coaches James Byrne, PJ D’Arcy and Peter Byrne for the countless hours of work they invested in the team. This was an especially nostalgic moment for PJ D’Arcy and Peter Byrne, who won the trophy themselves in 1970 and 1980 respectively.
Sympathy
Sincere sympathy is extended to the wife daughters, relations and friends of Jimmy Broaders, Sparrowsland who died recently. His funeral Mass took place in Bree on Thursday week last followed by burial in the new cemetery.

Community Games News
Bree Davidstown Cloughbawn Athletics Finals take place in Enniscorthy Hub on Friday, 26th May. Registration is from 5.30pm with events starting at 6.30pm sharp. Children do not have to be members of an athletic club to take part but must be resident in the parishes of Bree, Davidstown or Cloughbawn. It is free admittance to the venue for all. Registration fee is €2 for all athletes, Preschool, U6s, U8 -16. Further details contact 0874151350.
Draughts sessions continue each Tuesday evening in Bree Community Centre from 7 to 8pm. All are welcome to attend. New members U8-16 are also welcome. Cost is €2 to max €5 per family.
Congratulations to Ruby Bailey on winning the Bronze medal in the U10 Freestyle at the National Swimming Finals in Castlebar on Saturday last. Well done to Luke Ryan, Sarah Jewison, Lucy Deacon, Katie Ryan, Sarah Lillis and Emily Ryan who gave their best in the finals and enjoyed the experience.
Congratulations to Kate, Mary and Theresa O’Donoghue on winning the gold medals in the U16 Contemporary Irish Dance on Saturday night last at the Co Talent Final in Bree. Theresa also won the silver medal in the U16 Solo Music and Mary won the Bronze medal in the same competition.
Well done to Jane and Anna Prud’homme who competed in the Solo Music U12. Kate, Mary and Theresa will compete in the National Talent Final in Carlow in September.

Crumlin Children’s Hospital fundraisers
The recent fundraisers organised by Anna Bowe for the Cardiac Unit, Crumlin Children’s Hospital raised a massive €27,219.12.
The money was raised by two fundraising nights, Cheltenham Preview Night and Anna’s Strictly Come Dancing. Anna is beyond grateful to everyone who gave up their time to participate in and help with the fundraisers, and everyone who so generously supported this worthy cause, she said “what a community we have, from the bottom of my heart and on behalf of the Cardiac team in Crumlin thank you all so much”.
First Holy Communion
Congratulations to the twelve Pupils from 2nd class Kiltealy N.S. who received their first Holy Communion in a lovely ceremony in Kiltealy Church on Saturday last watched by their parents, teachers and family members. Pupils from 3rd to 6th class rendered beautiful hymns. The celebrant was Fr. Jim Fegan P.P. who complemented the children, parents and teachers.
All had a lovely day. Pupils from Ballindaggin N.S. will receive their first Holy Communion on Saturday next May 20th at 11 am. We wish the children, their parents and teachers a lovely day.

Sympathy
Deepest sympathy is extended to the family and friends of the late Thomas Vincent Kearns, Ballinlug, Killanne who passed away at his residence on Monday May 8th. To his sister Ann and brothers Seamus, John, Pat and Declan, relatives and friends we extend our deepest sympathy. Interment took place in Kiltealy Cemetery on Thursday last following the funeral Mass in Kiltealy Church. May he rest in peace.
Relay For Life Wexford
Friends and family of the late Dee Ronan are taking part in Relay for Life Wexford on the 8th and 9th July in Pairc Charman, Wexford in aid of the Irish Cancer Society. To fundraise for this event a coffee morning is being held in Jordan’s Lounge, Ballindaggin on Sunday morning of June bank holiday weekend (Sunday June 4th) at 11.30am.
