Knock Pilgrimage

The Ferns Diocesan Pilgrimage to Knock International Shrine takes place this year on Sunday, July 3, led by Bishop Ger Nash.

A coach will depart from the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody on Saturday, July 2, at 9.30 a.m. for an overnight stay at Knock House Hotel, returning on Sunday evening. The cost is €135 per person, which includes coach, B&B and two evening meals in Knock House Hotel. A single supplement of €10 will apply. Ireland’s biggest pro-life event of the year, Rally for Life, takes place on Saturday, July 2, gathering at 1.30 p.m. in Parnell Square, Dublin. GAA lotto

There was no jackpot winner of last week’s Half-Way-House/Bunclody GAA Club lotto draw. The numbers drawn were 1, 3, 5 and 28. Three match-three winners each receive €35. The winners were: John O’Connor, Paul Jackman and Kathleen Hanrick.

The next draw will be held on Monday, July 4, in Lennon’s, when the jackpot will be €3,300.

Church Choir

Holy Trinity Church Choir has returned to singing at Masses and other church services. Rehearsals take place every Tuesday evening at 7.30 p.m. in the Church of the Most Holy Trinity, Bunclody. New members, male and female, are required and will be sincerely welcomed.

Men’s Shed

Bunclody Men’s Shed opening times are as follows: Monday: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Wednesday: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.; and Friday 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Baby and Toddler Group

Bunclody Baby and Toddler Group meets every Wednesday from 9.30 a.m. to 11 a.m. during term time in the Pastoral Centre, Most Holy Trinity Church Main Street, Bunclody. All parents/guardians and little ones are welcome.

Clohamon Area Reunion

The Clohamon Area Reunion Committee are delighted to let you know that tickets are now available for the Clohamon Area Reunion on Saturday, July 30. The afternoon promises to be great, filled with all things nice, friendly faces, history, stories of times passed and lovely food. Fun Run/Walk

Kilmyshall Parish will hold a Fun Run/Walk on Sunday, July 10, starting at Kilmyshall Church car park at 12.30 p.m. Registration from midday.

The walk will finish at Kilmyshall Community Hall. Refreshments served.

Kilmyshall split-the-pot

Kilmyshall split-the-pot envelopes are available from HWH Shop, Steemers, Cahill’s hardware, D & M Laundrette, Glanbia, Redmond’s Bar, Byrnes Hardware Ryland Lower, Kilmyshall parish office and Kilmyshall School.

The pot is split between Kilmyshall School and the parish. Draw takes place every Friday. Your support is greatly appreciated.

The Lough Derg 2022 Pilgrimage Season Three Day Pilgrimages run from June 1 and continue till August 15 (Saturday, August 13, is the last day for pilgrims to begin the Three Day Pilgrimage) Admission: €80. Concessions are available for students, seniors and groups.

The Mall Market

The Mall Street market is back in Bunclody on Saturday mornings from 10 a.m. till 3 p.m., weather permitting.

Do call over and say hello as they truly enjoy the chats and the banter. The Marketeers are hoping for a long hot summer and praying for peace in this world of ours.

Tug of War

There will be Tug of war on Sunday, June 27, in Mahon’s field, Clohamon Y21 D8P9.

Competitions: Open Men’s: 600kg and 700kg; Open Ladies: six a side

Competition starts at 1.30 p.m. and will be followed by community five a side ladies’ and men’s pull for perpetual cups and medals. All teams welcome,

Hot Meals delivered

Bunclody Meals on Wheels service is looking for volunteers to help deliver a hot dinner to people living in the general Bunclody area. People with availability between 12.30 and 2 p.m. on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday are urgently needed. All help is very much appreciated to deliver this essential service.

Bunclody Library events

Children can now register for this year’s Summer Stars Reading Adventure which continues till the end of August.

All children are invited to enjoy the fun and pleasure of reading and writing over the summer and collect some prizes along the way. All you need is your library card.

Music Generation Carlow Come and Try Pop ‘n’ Rock

Music Generation are holding a two-day Music Camp for children aged 8-13 in Carlow on Wednesday and Thursday, July 13 and 14, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. Open to all beginners on guitar, drums and vocals. Cost is €25.

The annual patron and blessing of graves will take place in Bunclody on Friday, July 29, at 7 p.m. in the Old Cemetery, Chapel Road and at 8 p.m. in Ryland Cemetery.
