Church News

At Masses last weekend, the congregation was informed that due to the scarcity of priests, their age profile and the current lack of vocations, that our parish and adjoining parishes, can expect changes to the schedule of Masses etc. and that the role of the laity will, of necessity, have to be expanded too. In a Pastoral Area covering Oulart, The Ballagh, Monageer, Boolavogue, Kilmuckridge, Monamolin, Blackwater and Ballgarrett five priests will serve the needs of the Faithful, at the moment. Representatives of the parishes involved met with the Bishop and priests recently to discuss the necessity and implementation of the proposed changes. It is expected that the exact details of the changes will be relayed to the local church community in the near future.
