Local Link bus service

Did you know that Local Link Wexford run a bus service from Clologue via Ferns, Ballyduff and Camolin to Gorey every Tuesday and Friday morning? There are scheduled stops but they can also pick passengers up from their homes, offering a door to door service along the route.

Booking is required by calling 053 9011828. You can also register once and a seat can be reserved for you every week. Free travel pass accepted and children under 5 travel free.

St Vincent de Paul – Christmas Appeal

A new website svp.ie/fernsappeal is enabling donations made locally, by the people and businesses of Ferns Town and surrounding area, to be given directly to local people in the same area who seek assistance from the Ferns Branch of St Vincent de Paul.

Many local families and individuals will face impossible choices this Christmas, due to the substantial increases in food, electricity, fuel, etc. Your help will make a real difference. Please visit the website for more information and perhaps while you are there you would make a donation remember every little helps.

The website will be live for donations till January 13, 2023. The Ferns Branch of SVP is very grateful for all donations received.

Ferns Community Project AGM

Ferns Community Project CLG (Community Employment) will hold its AGM on Wednesday, December 7, at 8 p.m. in St Mogue’s Cottage, Ferns.


Light up Glenbrien

We are having a Christmas Bake Sale on Friday, November 25, from 1.30 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. in O’Brien’s Inn Lounge; we will have Toy Show Treat Boxes, Toy Show Hot Chocolate Mugs, Christmas Bakes and Gluten free Bakes. There will be a free door prize and a raffle on the day.

The Village Lights switch on is on Sunday, November 27, at 6 p.m. The Memory Tree Switch on and Carol Service is on Tuesday, December 20, at 6.30 p.m.

Memory Tree Stars and Lights can be ordered after Mass on November 26 and 27, and also at the Christmas Bake Sale in O’Brien’s on the 25th.

Oylegate-Glenbrien Parish Journal

Our parish journal is on sale in the locality: the Daybreak store, Ballymurn, at the Light Up Glenbrien Toy Show treat sale in O’Brien’s Inn lounge on Friday, November 25, or ring 087 9793956 to collect a copy. Also available in Oylegate shops. Copies are €10 each. Please purchase your copy while stocks last.


Christmas Craft Fair

Kiltealy Voluntary Cardiac Team will be having their annual Christmas Craft Fair in Kiltealy Hall on Sunday next November 27th, 11 am to 4 pm. It’s always a wonderful event and a great way to kick off the Christmas season. Donations welcome for this fundraiser. Admission Free.

Please come along and support the local crafters and soak up the festive spirit. Raffle on the day with great prizes, also donation buckets. All proceeds go towards the upkeep of the village defibrillators. Good to be back for the first time since 2019.

Calendar 2023

The KIltealy 2023 calendars are now on sale in local shops. Kiltealy Community Development committee would like to thank Shane O’Neill for his work putting the calendar together. This is a huge help to continue with all the projects to maintain Kiltealy village. It’s hugely appreciated. The calendar has some beautiful scenes from around the area.


Deepest sympathy is extended to Emma Dempsey, Kiltealy, on the recent passing of her father Stephen Dempsey, Meadowlands Court, Enniscorthy, also to Emma’s mother Breda, grandchildren, brothers, sisters and extended family. Stephen was laid to rest in Kiltealy Cemetery on Friday last following funeral Mass in St. Aidan’s Cathedral.

Sympathy is also extended to The Brooks family, Wheelagower on the recent passing of their brother-in-law Matty Doyle, Bunclody.

Deepest sympathy is extended to Joan Dwyer, Ballycrystal on the recent passing of her aunt Una Kehoe (née Cowman) Kyle,Bunclody. May they all rest in peace.

Kiltealy Tidy Towns

Kiltealy Tidy Towns received two awards at the recent Wexford County Council Keep Wexford Beautiful Environment Awards, coming joint 2nd for best Environmentally Aware & Presented town/village and coming joint 3rd for Best Community Biodiversity Project. Congratulations to Kiltealy Tidy Towns committee, also our Fas workers and indeed everyone in the community who helps keep Kiltealy Village tidy and environment friendly.


Social dancing in Kiltealy Hall this Friday November 25th, music by Teddy and Cathal Barry. Dancing from 9.30 to 12 midnight, refreshments served. Come along for a great night out.

Kiltealy Senior Citizens Party

Plans are underway for the senior citizens Christmas party which will take place on Sunday December 4th in the Community Hall. If you would like to attend the party and have not attended before, please contact Dee in the parish office at 053-9256650, to make sure you are on the guest list. Invitations have been distributed.

Volunteers are needed to help on the day, if you are free to help on Dec. 4th from 12 noon to 2 pm and 5pm to 6pm, please let Dee know in the parish office at the above number, or any member of the parish committee. Spot prizes for the raffle on the day would be welcome, you can leave them in the Parish Office Wednesday and Friday between 9 am and 1 pm. Thank you.


Ballindaggin National School parents council are having a bingo night in Ballindaggin Hall on Wednesday November 30th at 7 pm. Prizes, teas, sweets and a monster raffle on the night with over €2,000 in prize money. Fun for all the family. Admission adults €7,children €3, family €20.


Kiltealy N.S. is holding a clothes collection on Wednesday December 7th. The school shelter will be open during school hours from Monday next November 28th to facilitate dropping off of clothes.

The Winner of split the pot last week was Roisin Jordan, 5th class who won €140.

Christmas Mass Times in the Pastoral area are as follows:

Castledockrell: 6p.m. Christmas Eve and 9.30a.m. Christmas Day.

Marshalstown: 2.30p.m & 9p.m. Christmas Eve and 11a.m. Christmas Day.

St. Senan’s: 7p.m. Christmas Eve and 9a.m. & 11a.m. Christmas Day.

St. Aidan’s: 6p.m. & 9p.m. Christmas Eve and 10a.m. & 12 noon Christmas Day.

Castledockrell Webcam

A Webcam will be installed in Castledockrell Church in the coming weeks. All Church Services will be available to view live online.

This will be a welcome addition to our Parish especially for those unable to attend due to illness or distance.

The December Monthly Church Door collection will be a special collection towards this service. Your generosity would be greatly appreciated.

Pious Lists

November List of the Dead (Pious List) envelopes are available in both churches. Please return lists in the envelopes with offerings to any of the Priests. The Holy Souls will be remembered at all Masses in the Parish during the month of November. May they Rest in Peace.

Parish Meeting

Castledockrell Parish Meeting is on Tuesday, 29th November at 7.30p.m. in Castledockrell Hall.


New Readers and Eucharistic Ministers lists will be prepared shortly for Castledockrell Church. Anyone willing to volunteer please let me know as soon as possible. Anyone on either list who is no longer available please let me know so that your name may be removed. Thank you to all who volunteer at the moment and in the past. New people always welcome.


Marshalstown Castledockrell GAA Club Lotto results for 17th November are–numbers drawn 3, 12, 16, 28. Jackpot was €15,000. No winner. One match three winner Patrick Doyle wins €100. Thanks for your support.

Marshalstown Webcam

Marshalstown Church webcam is working again which is great news as all Church Services will be available to view live.


Marshalstown Bingo is every Monday night from 8p.m. Doors open from 7.30p.m. Come along and enjoy a cuppa and the chance to win some cash!!

Confessions for this Pastoral area are in St. Aidan’s Cathedral on Friday and Saturday after 10a.m. Mass and on Saturday at 5.30p.m. (before 6p.m. Mass).


Items for Castledockrell Newsletter should be received by Wednesday at the latest each week to guarantee inclusion the following weekend.

Notes Deadline

Notes deadline is now Sunday 6p.m. (time I need the notes by) and 6p.m. Thursday for Bank Holiday weekends as The Enniscorthy Guardian is now in the shops on Wednesdays. Items received after that time will be included in the following week’s notes if date of event has not passed.
