GAA News

The long journey to New Ross on Tuesday last, proved a fruitful one for our under-13 hurlers who beat St James’ by 6-16 to 1-6. With three games played, they are in second place in the group, having drawn with neighbours, Oulart and having lost to table topping Ballyhogue by a single point. The men on target for our lads in the St James’ game were; Eoghan Whelan with 3-2, Tadhg Dunne, who scored 0-6, Ryan Walsh with 1-2, Seán Lacey with 1-0, Aaron Swaine with 0-2, Michael Somers with 0-3 and Donnacha O’Hanlon, who scored 1-1.

Soccer news

The St Cormac’s men’s ‘A’ team travelled to Gorey to take on Gorey Rangers on Sunday, August 29, for their first league game of the season. Matthew Dunne converted from the spot after Mick Sweeney was tripped inside the box, to give our lads an early lead. Practically from the restart, Gorey replied to make it 1-1 and so it remained till the break. Mick Sweeney’s diligence was well rewarded soon after the resumption when he intercepted a poor clearance to bang home our second goal of the game.

Twenty minutes into the second half, the goal of the game was scored when Mark Walsh volleyed a great pass from Matthew Dunne to make it 3-1 for our team. Gorey redoubled their efforts and managed to pull back a goal but could not manage to find the equaliser before full time was blow.
