BUNCLODY Vocational College will be participating in a special community event in the town on Wednesday, May 17.
The ‘One Book, One Community’ event will be held in the hall of Our Lady of Lourdes National School.
Speaking about the event Margaret Kinsella, from Bunclody VC, said the school is delighted to be hosting the first celebration of its type in the primary school hall.
It will take place from 12 noon and a number of different groups from within the local community in Bunclody will be involved including 1st Year students from Bunclody VC.
The 6th class pupils from Our Lady of Lourdes NS will also be participating and it’s expected the local elected councillors will also be in attendance as we all representatives from the Tidy Towns group, the drama group and also the Community Park Committee.
Margaret said some of the staff and residents from the local SignaCare nursing home will also be attending.
The local community librarians, Shane and Elaine, have been very supportive of the initiative and it’s expected one of them will also be present.
The One Book One Community initiative has become very popular in recent times and is essentially a celebration of great books, reading and community spirit.
The aim of the event is to give schools, libraries, publishers and authors the chance to inspire children to love books.
