A VERY busy week has just been had for Joanne McCabe, proprietor of Colla Voce Performance & Music School, as members finally got back to staging their end-of-year events.

Their last ‘End-of-Year Showcase’ concert was in 2019 but last week they were back with a bang at St Michael’s Theatre in New Ross.

First up were children who attend weekly musical theatre classes in Raheen Community Centre.

Children from nine local schools came together to stage Colla Voce’s adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book ‘The Twits’ with some energetic songs and dances.

The older children in these groups took on the challenge of ‘Seussical’; the Dr Seuss-based script where we meet colourful characters like the Cat in the Hat & Horton the Elephant.

On Friday night, a huge cast of singers and junior pianists took to the stage in St Michael’s Theatre for their end-of-year showcase concert.

Performances from children, teens and adults included everything from opera to the Cranberries, Irish ballads to big Broadway belts.

Pianist for the evening Yvonne Collier helped conclude the evening with a full-cast finale song – Seasons of Love, which was thoroughly enjoyed by the audience.
