Kilmokea Country House & Heritage Gardens has won a national Georgina Campbell Award.

The Hewlett family and team at the venue celebrated their achievement on Sunday, briefly, on the lawn with their staff giving them gifts to thank them for all their hard work which assisted them in achieving this award.
Winning in the Best Gardens & garen stays category, Mark and Emma Hewlett’s peaceful Georgian country house – set in seven acres of Heritage Gardens – is described very much a family home rather than a hotel, with elegantly furnished rooms in the main house and beautiful

self-catering suites in an adjoining coach house, which allow for greater independence.

“Organic outdoor dining is offered for lunch from their well known café, and a set menu in the evening for house guests in the Peacock Dining Room.

“A ‘potager design’ vegetable garden supplies the kitchens and Mark and Emma have invested in quality outdoor furniture, so guests can eat al fresco in style as well as safety.”

The judge described the gardens at the Great Island venue as fascinating, “with much to interest everyone, whether you are on a tour, a serious horticulturist, a keen historian or just having a family day out (the Fairy Village will delight little people)”.
