Christmas Shopping Bus
Get all your shopping done under one roof in one day, beat the December crowds and leave the car at home. On Saturday, December 2, there is a bus leaving Blackwater and Oulart and going straight to Blanchardstown shopping centre. Leaving Blackwater at 8 a.m. Leaving Oulart at 8.20 a.m. We will arrive at 10 a.m. approximately and leave at 5 p.m. leaving loads of time to get your bits and pieces done. At the recent group get-together on November 13, a very informative presentation was given by Mr Cormac Mullen, solicitor, on Power of Attorney.
The annual general meeting will be held in the parish hall on November 27 at 4 p.m. Please note the annual membership fee of €20 will be collected on that date. All members are invited to attend.
community craft day
The community craft day is being held in the function room in the Blackwater Lodge this Sunday, November 26, from 10.30 a.m. till 5 p.m. Lots of handmade crafts for sale. Ideal for Christmas gifts. Admission free. We have a great selection this year.
Wool pool
We are setting up a wool pool on November 26 at the community craft day in the Blackwater Lodge. Crafters in our local knitting club 'Cois Abhainn Crafts' make hats for premature and newborn babies. If you have any balls of double knit wool in bright colours bring them along to our craft day on Sunday the 26th between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. See you there.
Christmas Market
Coláiste an Átha will host their annual Christmas Market on Friday, November 24, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. A wide array of crafts, gifts, games and food will be available on the evening. Help us get into the festive spirit and support our TY and LCA students. There are still a number of stalls available for local vendors. Please contact the school if interested.
Camogie club 20th
Blackwater camogie club are celebrating their 20-year anniversary of winning their first ever adult title. This game was played in Oylegate in 1997 against a tough Bunclody side. The club is inviting past and present players, supporters, mentors and all those who have helped with our club since its formation in 1994 to attend a night of nostalgia with music in Corrigans pub on Friday, November 24, at 9 p.m. Please come and celebrate with us.

Juvenile Athletics
St Killian's Club member Emma McCarthy had a great run in the under-11 category at the Leinster Cross-Country championships in Adamstown on Sunday week last. It was her debut wearing the Wexford vest and in a very large field of 175 competitors, run over a tough and mucky course, she gained great experience. The good news is that Emma will still be eligible to run this race again next year. Well done, Emma.
A reminder that juvenile training is being held in Crossabeg national school hall. Training every Monday evening (only) from 6.30-7.30 p.m for boys and girls aged seven years and up to and including third class pupils. Training every Monday and Thursday evening from 7.30-8.30 p.m for boys and girls from fourth classes and upwards. New members most welcome.
GOLD MEDALLIST - Congratulations to St Killian's Athletic club juvenile member Jack Forde, who formed part of the Irish Schools Junior team who competed at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on Friday week last, facing competition from England, Scotland and Wales. All members of the team competed in five events.
Jack performed very well with a PB in the 200m (25.6) and 800m (2.18) and also good performances in the Long Jump, Shot Putt and Hurdles. It proved to be a great day for the team as they took the gold medals. Well done to all and in particular local Crossabeg lad, Jack Forde.
Brussels bound
Ger Shortle from Kyle, Crossabeg, who is the Environmental specialist with Teagasc is heading to the European Commission in Brussels on a one-year secondment, where he will join the Water Unit of DG Environment. Ger has been manager of Teagasc Agri-Catchments Programme for the past 12 years and brings a deep knowledge of Irish farming with him. We wish him well.
Condolences
We extend our condolences to the family of the late John Berney, Scotland, and formerly of Saunderscourt, Crossabeg, who died on November 1 the funeral Mass and Cremation took place in Scotland on November 8.
His remains were brought home to Wexford and a funeral Mass took place in Crossabeg church on Saturday last, November 18, at midday with burial of ashes afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Eldest son of the late Brian and Margaret Berney, he is survived by his wife and family, brothers Paddy, Joe (Crossabeg) Michael (Saunderscourt) sisters Kathleen, Rita, Joan (Saunderscourt) nephews, nieces relatives and friends, to whom we offer our deepest sympathy. RIP Community Games.
The local Community Games Area (taking in Crossabeg, Castlebridge, Screen, Curracloe, Glenbrien, Ballymurn and Oylegate) were announced as the 2017 'Best Area in County' at the annual general meeting of Wexford Community Games held on Monday night of last week. The area representatives will travel to Enfield, Co. Meath, on Saturday, November 25, to collect their award.
The local committee wish to thank most sincerely the staff and management of all the schools for supporting the activities of the movement, the children who participated and their parents who encouraged them. Grateful thanks also to all the clubs in the area who entered teams in the various events and all the coaches and mentors who gave such help and advice during the year. Looking forward to working with each and everyone again in 2018.

Over the Water
New walkway lights
There has been a very positive response from the local community to the recent opening of the Shelmalier GAA Clubs full lit walkway in Hollymount.
In the short time since its opening, it has seen large numbers of casual walkers and joggers taking to the walkway on a nightly basis. With the recent great rise in interest in exercise and wellbeing the addition of this fabulous new facility is to be greatly welcomed by the local community.
There is no charge for the use of this facility so the Shelmalier GAA Club extends a warm welcome to the whole community to go to Hollymount any night of the week with the lights coming on at sunset and going out at 10 p.m each night. So if you haven't tried out the walkway so far why not head over to Hollymount and take part in this leisurely activity, you never know who you will meet there.

The annual general meeting of the Shelmalier GAA Club will take place in Hollymount on Saturday, December 2, starting at 5 p.m and all members and supporters are cordially invited to attend.
Nomination and motions papers can be obtained directly from club secretary Peggy Kelly, who will also facilitate members, as they can also obtain their nomination and motions papers in Hollymount tonight (Tuesday) from 7.30 to 8.30 p.m.
The closing date for receipt of nominations and motions is midday on Tuesday, November 28.

Over-40s soccer
The Bridge Rovers Football club are actively looking for new members. They play on Monday nights at 8.30 p.m. onwards and Friday nights at 8 p.m. and you need to pay €5 for the lights per night.
