Lucrative Umbro deal finalised with Rovers
SLIGO ROVERS have finalised a lucrative deal with Umbro in a three year kit partnership which could be worth as much €240,000 to the club.
The arrangment brings to an end Rovers long association with local suppliers, Jako Ireland, who had sponsored the club for more than a decade.
The Umbro deal, worth a minimum of €150,000 over the term and up to €240,000, is the most lucrative ever with a kit manufacturer in the history of the Bit o' Red.
Sligo Rovers chairman Dermot Kelly described the partnership asan exciting new development for Sligo Rovers.
He said: "We are delighted to welcome Umbro on board with us and we believe it is a relationship that will allow the club to further our ambitions and goals.
"Our success in recent seasons has been built on hard work and determination to be the best in every department. Umbro join us to help us grow further and the agreement is a testament to our progress. It is the result of many hours of work by all the club's volunteers."
Jonathan Courtenay, Manager Director of Umbro Ireland said they were delighted to become kit partner to the Airtricity Premier Division Champions "We look forward to working closely with the club over the coming three years as well as supplying the best football product to the team and its fantastic fans", he said.
Sligo Rovers also thanked Jako Sport for their support and help during their time with the club.
Thanking Jako Sport and Ncky and Fiona Broujos for their 'outstanding long-term contribution to the club', Dr. Kelly said if there was any disappointment in the new deal it was that it put an end to the formal relationship between Jako and Rovers..
A new replica Rovers jersey will be launched next February as well a new line of Sligo Rovers Umbro merchandise in the club store in Quayside Shopping Centre which opens on December 1st
