Connolly can shine in U17 European Championships
Sligo Rovers will have a keen interest in this year's UEFA U17 European Championships.
Rising star Oisin Connolly is a member of the Republic of Ireland side, managed by Tom Mohan.
The dramatic final day of qualifying saw the team go down to hosts Poland by 1-0 in Grodzisk Wielkopolski. However, they still managed to get through for the European finals, taking place in May.
The other results from their group went in Ireland's favour as Greece and Belarus fininshed 0-0 and this left Ireland sitting in second spot.
It has been some time since Ireland last featured in the Euros, it was back in 2008 that the team made it through.
Oisin, a TY student from Cong, Co Mayo, said afterwards that it was wonderful to make it through to Bulgaria.
He posted a photograph with his fellow Irish teammates on Twitter, adding: "brilliant feeling to be part of such a great squad. COYBIG."
The centre-back is going from strength to strength at Rovers after signing in September 2014.
Boss Mohan praised the efforts of his young side during their qualification campaign. "We were missing four players too through injury. Everyone did a great job, it's a huge amount of effort from the team and staff. We are delighted to make the finals." They face Italy, England and Netherlands.
