Calry continue winning form

Calry/St. Joseph's 2-22 Eastern Harps 1-10

Calry/St. Joseph's continued their good form in the Belfry S.F.C on Sunday with victory over Eastern Harps.

Following their comprehensive win over Coolera/Strandhill last week they comfortably overcame the challenge of Eastern Harps in Shamrock Gaels Park,Coola on Sunday afternoon.

They were much the better team throughout and were deserving winners in a lively game played in fine but breezy conditions. Calry opened strongly with the assistance of a stiff breeze.

Two points from the impressive Eoin Doherty; one the opener from a 13m. free and one point from play from the dominant Damien O'Boyle gave them an early three point lead.

Sean Bruen opened the Harps account with a point from a 13m. free. Damien O'Boyle got his second point from play to which Thomas Cryan replied with a similar effort.

Damien O'Boyle and Shane O'Grady exchanged points to leave the winners 0-5 to 0-3 ahead. Calry /St.Joseph's then hit a purple patch with points from Darragh Cummins, Conor Mc Govern, Eoin Doherty and Paddy Woulfe.

County goalkeeper Aidan Devaney made a good save from Martin Doherty but was penalised for overcarrying and Shane O Grady pointed the resultant Cummins then found the Harps net after three Harps defenders failed to clear their lines. Paddy Woulfe and Eoin Doherty increased the winners lead but Ml. Clarke reduced the deficit with a good point from play.

Man of the match, Damien O'Boyle had the final point of the half to leave his side 1-12 to 0-5 ahead at the interval.

On the resumption Shane O'Grady had a point from a for Harps after Shawn O'Hara was fouled.

Ciarán Hannon pointed to reduce the Calry/St.Joseph's advantage. Normal service was restored when Damien O'Boyle finished a fine passing move to the Harps net. Goalkeeper Aidan Devaney got on the scoresheet as he pointed a

Conor Griffin pointed from play and Conor McGovern had his second point from play as the winners took control. Harps' sole response was a point from Shane O'Grady from a

Paddy Woulfe had his second point from play and Darragh Cummins added to his tally. Harps full back Robert Reid got forward and got on the end of a Ronan Mulligan pass to finish to the Calry net.

Eoin Doherty pointed a 45 before he and his namesake Martin exchanged points.

The winners finished in style with two points from Darragh Cummins and one from Damien O'Boyle.

Calry look likely to qualify for the Qr.-finals and on the evidence of recent form will provide a stern test for any opposition, Meanwhile it's back to the drawing board for a Harps side with lots of potential but currently in danger of relegation.
