Over 1200 enthusiastic school children representing over 40 schools from across the county are expected to converge on the ATU Sligo Athletics Track on Thursday the 29th of September (European Week of Sport) for the Annual SuperValu Primary Schools Athletics Festival, an initiative of Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership.

This event is now in its eighteenth year and is firmly established on the primary school sports calendar as one of the highlight events of the year.

The popularity of the event continues to grow each year and this can be attributed to an emphasis on fun, enjoyment and the fact that schools encourage children of all athletic ability to take part.

The event is supported by SuperValu while County Sligo Athletics Association will be on hand to oversee the running of what will hopefully be a great day of athletics for children.

Further details of the event are available from Sligo Sport and Recreation Partnership Facebook page or at www.sligosportandrecreation.ie.
