Arrow Harps win on penalties

Arrow Harps 5 Renmore AFC 4 (after penalties)

Arrow Harps U16 team qualified for the semi-final of the Connacht SFAI cup with a very hard fought win Renmore AFC Galway in Galway coming out 5-4 in a penalty shootout after extra-time.

This very physical game was played in very tough conditions and the sticky conditions made it very difficult to play good football.

Chances were at a minimum with both teams going close to scoring.

After 90 minutes the teams could not be separated and the game went into extra-time and what a clash that proved to be.

Renmore took the lead with a low shot to the bottom corner in the first period of extra-time.

However in the second half, Arrow Harps scored a well deserved equaliser for their efforts.

Cian Kilcoyne's shot from the edge of the box levelled the game and went all out for winner but the game went to penalties.

Well-taken penalties by Lee Deignan, Conor Kearns, Cian Kilcoyne, Daniel Murphy and a great save by James Keegan left Michael Coen with the final penalty.

He coolly dispatched to send Arrow Harps through.

This was a great team effort by all the Squad and credit must go to the players and coaches as they get ready for the semi-final.

Arrow Harps squad: James Keegan, Shane McGloin, Conor Kearns, Eoin Dwyer, Evan Corcoran, Daniel Murphy, Patrick Kenny, Lee Deignan, Cian Kilcoyne , Michael Coen, Conor Healy, Ryan Thompson, Luke Kennedy.
